The 5 best allergists in Montreal for allergy treatment

Allergies can be more than just an inconvenience—they can affect your energy, focus, and overall quality of life.

The good news? Montreal has experienced allergists who can help you breathe easier, manage your triggers, and get back to feeling like yourself.

If you’re tired of sneezing through spring or breaking out in hives from who-knows-what, then it’s time to consult a specialist. Don’t worry if you don’t know where to go yet; we’ve done the research for you.

Here are the best allergists in Montreal, each known for their compassion and effective allergy treatment.

How much does an allergist’s service cost in Montreal?

An initial allergy consultation in Montreal typically costs between $299 and $395 at private clinics, with follow-up visits normally priced between $199 and $295.

How we chose the best allergists in Montreal

Quality of service: We selected clinics with allergists who provide long-lasting and effective treatments to patients.
Range of treatments: We opted for clinics with allergists who can treat a wide range of allergy and immune deficiency problems, including food allergies.
Communication: We looked for hospitals with responsive and communicative contact centre staff.
Compassion: We picked businesses with specialists who show genuine care for their patients. We verified this by reading online reviews and talking to patients.

1. Hygea Clinic

We love Hygea Clinic’s personalised care approach. Their allergy treatment plans are tailored to every person’s unique needs, circumstances, and preferences.

We’re also very impressed with their expertise in treating immune system conditions. They can treat asthma, rhinitis, and seasonal allergies with ease. They’re also skilled in handling life-threatening reactions to drugs, food, and vaccines.

We also love that their services are covered by the Quebec Health Insurance Board (RAMQ) even though they’re a private clinic. With this, patients can receive the treatment they need with little to no out-of-pocket cost.

Many of the patients we talked to also appreciate Hygea’s multilingual services. The team can assist patients in at least four languages (English, Italian, Greek, and French). This makes it easier for patients of various backgrounds to receive care.

The only drawback we heard is that some patients experienced last-minute reschedules without prior notice. Some were already at the clinic when they found out that their doctor wasn’t present.

Pros

  • Expertise in immune system conditions
  • Offers allergy consultations, diagnosis, and management
  • Personalised patient care
  • Services are covered under RAMQ
  • Multilingual services
  • Attentive and friendly staff
  • Short wait times

Cons

  • Unavailable on weekends
  • Occasional last-minute reschedules

The doctor is very respectful

“I am very lucky that God made Dr. Philip-Hector Tsoukas my treating doctor. The doctor is very respectful, polite, and has great knowledge. He tries to help his patients as much as possible. He takes his time in making the diagnosis, and he may make a referral to another doctor to treat another problem that may be the cause of the disease I suffer from and the reason for my visit to him. He follows up on the results from the other doctor and follows up on the result of his diagnosis. He is very respectful of his patients and takes his time to really listen to them. The clinic is lucky to have you here. Thank you  Doctor . Hector Tsoukas  I wish you health and success.”

Incredibly kind and attentive

“Dr. Philip-hector tsoukas is an incredibly kind and attentive rheumatologist . I’ve had a lot of rushed, rude, insulting doctor experiences trying to figure out my health issues for couple decades and Dr. Tsoukas doesn’t rush, he doesn’t try to fit my personal care into a box and takes interest in me as an individual patient. The experience means a lot to me and is undoing the impacts the healthcare industry has had on me and my healthcare is being properly addressed. I hope the clinic does everything in their power to have this environment and maintain his level of care because it truly makes a difference in the lives of patients.”

We like Polyclinique Centre-Ville’s patient-centred care approach. They actively collaborate with patients and their families in making decisions, which we all want when it comes to our loved ones’ health.

The clinic’s wide range of allergy treatments is also a major plus. They manage food and drug allergies, dermal allergic diseases, and even insect venom allergies.

Another strong point is that they provide on-site allergy testing. They offer skin tests for over 20 allergens, including fish and mould.

The fast turnaround of the test results is also impressive. Some of their patients told us they received their test results in as little as 15 minutes.

What stood out the most, though, is their speciality in environmental respiratory allergies. They have experienced treating allergies caused by cockroaches’ faeces, mice’s saliva, and even dust mites.

The only drawback we noticed was that it can take a while to be able to speak to one of their representatives via phone. This can be very inconvenient for some patients, especially during emergencies.

Pros

  • 12+ years in business
  • Serves children and adults
  • Patient-centred care
  • Offers several allergy treatments
  • Offers on-site allergy testing
  • Fast test result turnaround
  • Specialises in environmental respiratory allergies

Cons

  • Unavailable on weekends
  • Can be hard to reach via phone

Top-notch healthcare

“I had an outstanding experience at Polyclinic Centre Ville and couldn’t be more impressed with the level of care I received. From the moment I arrived, the staff was welcoming, efficient, and attentive, ensuring I felt comfortable throughout my visit. The doctors are exceptional—knowledgeable, patient, and thorough in explaining every aspect of my care. It’s clear that they prioritize the well-being of their patients and go above and beyond to ensure the best outcomes. A big thank you to the entire team for making my experience so positive. I highly recommend Polyclinic Centre Ville to anyone seeking top-notch healthcare! W.Khreich”

One of the most professional doctors I’ve ever met

“Dr.Joe Saliba is one of the most professional doctors I have ever met. I got referred to him for a problem in my right ear. I had a hole and was sent to have surgery by my previous doctor. Dr.Joe followed up with me for months with a clinical procedure which healed my ear completely and avoided me from going in surgery. Big thank you to Dr.Saliba. The staff at the reception are very welcoming as well and the clinic is clean and organized. First time I can say I really liked my visits to the doctor.”

3. Montreal Children’s Hospital

We were very amazed when we discovered that the Montreal Children’s Hospital has been around since 1904. That’s more than a century ago. It’s impressive to see a hospital with such a long history remain dedicated to healthcare.

As their name suggests, they specialise in treating children, from newborns up to 18 years old. They can even provide emergency care when needed.

One of their biggest strength for us is their speciality in primary immunodeficiencies. This makes them the ideal place to visit when your child’s immune system is weakened.

Beyond that, they offer an extensive range of allergy-related services. They can handle skin tests, genetic tests, and more specialised tests to determine potential allergies.

That said, some of the parents we spoke to expressed disappointment in delayed appointments. A woman told us that her son’s check-up was delayed for six hours. This is bad, especially when your kid is very sick.

Pros

  • 121+ years in business
  • Mainly serves children
  • Provides emergency care
  • Provides several allergy tests
  • Offers several allergy treatments
  • Specialises in primary immunodeficiencies

Cons

  • Occasional delayed appointments

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

“We are beyond grateful for the incredible care our son received at the Montreal Children’s Hospital NICU. From the moment we arrived, the entire team doctors, nurses, and staff treated our son with such compassion, patience, and professionalism. They took the time to explain everything to us, answered all our questions, and made sure we felt supported every step of the way. It was one of the hardest times in our lives, but knowing he was in such caring and capable hands brought us so much comfort. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the outstanding care you gave our little one.”

They went above and beyond

“We’ve been on-going to the MTL children’s for coming on 4yrs now (for multiple clinics). And yesterday my child had several appointments, including having 2 separate blood tests at 2 different times.. the staff not only recognized us the 2nd time round but they were super friendly, outgoing, and very encouraging/ supportive to my strong yet nervous soon to be 4yr old.  And I just wanted to give a shout out that the blood test clinic that they went above and beyond in helping make our long day there a little brighter. So thank you!”

4. UnionMD

One of UnionMD’s advantages over most competitors is that they’re available every day. This is very helpful, as you don’t know exactly when you will have allergies.

Their preventive care approach is very impressive as well. They mostly take proactive steps to stop allergic diseases from developing or progressing. They specifically provide prevention advice and suggest desensitisation treatments.

They can help with a wide range of allergy conditions. They can treat and diagnose immune system hypersensitivity reactions, eczema, and other conditions.

What we love most is that they offer home visits. This is extremely helpful for those who can’t visit under who-knows-what circumstances. For a reasonable cost, a specialist can treat your allergies from the comfort of your home.

Nevertheless, no clinic is perfect. Some people were disappointed in them for taking over a day to respond to emails.

Pros

  • Available daily
  • Warm atmosphere
  • Serves teenagers and adults
  • Emergency walk-ins
  • Home visits
  • Provides allergy testing
  • Offers allergy treatments
  • Preventive care approach
  • Transparent pricing

Cons

  • Slow response on some occasions

I would definitely go back!

“I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into this location on Jean Talon, it was in immaculate condition, beautiful natural lighting and friendly customer service. I got there early and was seen in moments of being there and was out in less than 5 min. The only downfall is that there is very limited/tight parking spots available but there is the parking lot of bureau en gros just across the street where you can probably park for 20 min if need be. The price was average for a private clinic and well worth the emergency walk in rather than wait to be seen through the RAMQ. I would DEFINITELY go back!!!”

-Melissa Orsini, Google Review

I highly recommend the clinic

“I had an appointment with Dr. Mathilde Labbé and it was truly the best medical experience I’ve ever had. The entire experience was pleasant from start to finish. I submitted a request for an appointment and received a call within 15 minutes. Less than 24 hours later, I was sitting with a doctor. Dr. Labbé was amazing, she took her time, listened to all of my concerns, and made me feel genuinely heard and cared for. The appointment started right on time, and I never felt rushed. She was kind, thorough, and professional. I highly recommend her and the clinic!”

5. McGill University Health Centre

Business hours: Open 24/7

Website

We recommend McGill University Health Centre to those with immune deficiency problems. They’re the only establishment in Canada with an immune deficiency treatment centre that offers specialised care on inherited and acquired immune defects.

Another notable thing is that they mainly treat rare and complex conditions. They can treat uncommon invasive allergies caused by plants like ragweed and pampas grass. Apart from that, they can also help with invasive allergies to insects, including bed bugs.

Many people appreciate them for helping newly adult patients who’ve relied on children’s hospitals with their transition program. They work with every patient’s pediatric allergist to make sure that treatment plans are carried over seamlessly.

We also love that they’re available 24/7. Having a quality centre that you can reach at any time of day is reassuring.

However, some people we spoke to stated that there are times when you need to wait for a long period before getting their service. This is because the centre sometimes has high referral demand.

Pros

  • Available 24/7
  • Seamless transition from children to adult care
  • Treats rare and complex conditions
  • Offers several allergy services
  • Immune Deficiency Treatment Centre

Cons

  • Long wait times

Clean nice rooms and nice staff

“I understand some people complain about ER waiting time, but that is the case at any hospital you go to. From my family’s personal experience, my wife gave birth there twice, and both times the hospital was fantastic. Clean nice rooms and nice staff. I did take my son a few years ago to the ER, it was Christmas and we did not wait long. The whole thing took maybe 2 hours. They had Santa there giving out toys to all the children.”

-Dr. T, Google Review

The staff are amazing

“I have been a patient here on and off for 5 years now for routine blood tests, appointments and otherwise and the staff are amazing. From admin to the nurses to the physicians. Nothing is perfect there has been a few stuff that made my eyebrows raise here and there but I mean that’s not the hospitals fault that’s just what you get when you live in a country with socialized medicine. It’s weird to say this about a hospital but I actually like going there. I can’t leave out how fortunate I am to have a facility like this that caters to the anglophone community.”
