1. George Garage

George Garage is a family-run business, so we’re super pleased to note its no-pressure attitude the moment we walked in. They’ve been here for 60 years, which is a level of experience that translates well into their work.

Repairs are done efficiently, with small jobs like an oil change taking only under an hour to complete. We also saw how most of their work (minus extremely complex ones) has a same-day turnaround, even for jobs on short notice.

Pricing is also a win here – while certain services aren’t the most affordable, the value clients get is solid. Plus, we noted a few instances wherein the actual cost turned out to be lower than the original quote.

The biggest downside, though, is that the place tends to be busy. They can accommodate walk-ins whenever possible, but we advise giving them a call to schedule a visit for anything complex and serious.

Visiting Mon Garage was a pretty chill experience for our team. The area is clean and laid back despite the noise, so we were able to see some clients stay as their vehicles were being repaired.

What impressed us the most was how quickly they operated. We observed that walk-in clients often get diagnoses within 2 hours, and certain services also (mostly straightforward ones) only take up to an hour to be completed.

We also find them flexible when it comes to client requests. For instance, customers can bring their own parts to only pay for labour, but this depends on the situation and the type of repair required.

Of course, not every experience is perfect – we interviewed a customer who reported waiting for 30 minutes without being acknowledged. That said, most of the things we’ve heard and seen are massively positive, putting this issue on the minor end.

Garage Boisvert offers a wide range of services, so we’re confident that they can accommodate various clients. Some of the offerings include air and cabin filter replacement, brake repair, and general maintenance. 

And though they’re not the fastest on this list, we appreciate their no-nonsense approach that often leads to same-day turnarounds.

Pricing is another strong advantage here. They’re one of the most affordable we’ve encountered, with clients noting that they save hundreds here compared to other estimates.

If there’s one thing worth mentioning, though, it’s the fact that female customers feel safe and accommodated here. Unfortunately, this is still quite rare in the industry, so we’re happy to hear these reports of feeling safe and respected.

That said, the front desk experience can be a hit or miss, with one of our team members experiencing unprofessional phone interaction. A stronger front-line service can really improve this area.

When we visited Garage P.J.N., the thing that caught our attention was the quality of their work. In particular, their rust repainting and replacement service was meticulous, with cars leaving the garage almost brand-new looking.

The customer service here is top-notch too, with crews carefully recommending the right repairs. They also correct issues free of charge if they arise post-service (of course, this only covers issues involving lapses on their part).

Turnaround times are about 24 to 48 hours for smaller jobs, so while it’s not the fastest, it’s still within city benchmarks. At least the rates are more affordable than most, making them attractive to clients on a budget.

We just encountered a few reports that they missed the deadlines for certain repairs. Upon closer examination, our team agrees that the causes were largely beyond their control (mostly due to weather conditions), and they still met the criteria we are looking for.

For us, the best thing about Point S is their inclusive packages. For example, they have a vehicle maintenance package that includes cabin filter replacements, tyre rotations, and electrical systems checks (among others).

We find these convenient for those who want to keep their services simple, all at competitive prices.

Speaking of which, some services here are more affordable than others. For instance, transmission repairs, which are typically high-ticket services, cost less here (do take note, though, that this is not the same for all types of repairs).

They can also accept walk-ins with no fuss, particularly for small jobs. There’s no unnecessary upselling too, which our members appreciated for transparency.

However, not all jobs end up satisfactory, with a few instances ending in costlier repairs. But these are highly unique issues and dependent on various factors.
