They guided us through each step of working with metal—cutting, shaping, and finishing—with just the right mix of structure and freedom to explore our own style. Safety was always a priority, and we felt comfortable trying tools we’d never used before.
It was incredibly satisfying to leave with a finished piece we made ourselves, and even more so knowing we gained real skills in the process.

We had an incredibly enriching experience at Céramique Centrale in Verdun, Montreal—a cozy, inclusive pottery studio that immediately felt like a creative haven. The atmosphere was warm and non-judgmental, with small class sizes and a supportive vibe that encouraged experimentation and self-expression.
Our 7‑week class (with 3-hour weekly sessions) offered hands-on instruction in both wheel throwing and handbuilding techniques—from cylinder shaping and trimming to decorating and glazing. The teacher’s experience and patience made every step clear and engaging, even for beginners. All clay, glazes, firings, and tools were included, making it stress‑free to focus simply on creating.
One of the highlights was access to Open Studio time after attending three classes—where we could drop in up to three extra hours per week to practice independently. This extra flexibility really enhanced our skills and sense of community.
By the end of the term, we left with beautifully finished pieces—and surprisingly, with a new confidence in working with clay. Céramique Centrale successfully combined technical guidance, community energy, and creative freedom into an experience that was both rewarding and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore pottery in an inspiring yet accessible setting.
