Don’t Let Your Hair Down With The Best Barber Shops In Montreal

Tired of bad hair days in Montreal? We hear you. Whether you’re rocking a classic cut or something a little more edgy, finding the right barber can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.

We’ve scoured the city, from the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal to the trendy Plateau, to bring you Montreal’s finest barber shops.

So, whether you’re a seasoned Montrealer or just passing through, get ready to comb through our list and discover the barber shop that will have you looking sharp in no time.

How much do barber shops charge in Montreal?
Barber shops in Montreal typically charge an average amount of $37 for haircuts. However, more specialised styles or upscale services can push the price higher.

How We Chose

Barber expertise – We considered the experience and skills of the barbers. We looked for shops with a team of talented professionals known for their precision and attention to detail.
Range of services – We evaluated the variety of services offered and favoured shops that provide a comprehensive selection of haircuts, beard trims, and grooming treatments.
Atmosphere and ambience – We factored in the overall atmosphere and ambience of the shops, seeking out places with a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Value for money – We considered the pricing of the services by aiming to recommend shops that offer fair pricing.
Customer reviews – We carefully analysed customer reviews from various platforms. We paid close attention to comments about the quality of the haircuts, overall experience, and professionalism of the barbers.

Since 2016, La Chapelle Barbershop has been making waves with its two Montreal locations – one in the Plateau and the other in Hochelaga.

We absolutely love the vibe here, and it’s clear why this place has a solid reputation. Not only are the barbers top-notch, but the atmosphere is also incredibly welcoming and inclusive.

What sets La Chapelle apart is their commitment to using 100% vegan, cruelty-free products. For those of us who care about ethical grooming, this is a huge plus. Their services are as sharp as their scissors.

You can get a classic haircut for $30 or go all out with a full grooming package—haircut, beard trim, and a hot towel shave—for $50, with everything priced tax-included. Just a heads-up: it’s cash-only, so come prepared.

We also appreciate how convenient they make things. They offer both online appointments and walk-in services.

If you’re the spontaneous type, you can pop in without a reservation. However, you might find yourself spending some time playing pinball or NES games if you come during peak hours.

  • Online booking

Cons

  • Cash only basis

Handles difficult haircuts effortlessly

“I’ve been coming to this barbershop for about a year now. Jose is an amazing barber. My hair is notoriously difficult to cut and he does it effortlessly. I used to go to a well known high end barbershop here and I honestly find this place does a better job and less expensive. The staffs are friendly. I highly would recommend this barbershop.”

Delivers exceptional haircuts tailored to individual preferences

“I went into the Common Room with a specific hairstyle and reference pictures and Alexis did a fantastic job! He looked at my references and gave me his own advice for my hair type and his choices were just what I had envisioned. Definitely the best haircut I have ever received and I am someone who is extremely picky and particular about my hair. He also did a very clean job of trimming my beard. I will for sure be coming back in the future!”

Offers great value for the price and time

“I have been cutting my hair with Patrick for a few months now, he has never missed a cut. Very good service and great people! Worth the price and time. Patrick also took lots of time to see my reference picture and gave lots of attention to every single detail. The haircut I asked for was exactly what I got (and some details got even better)! Thank you very much, guys!”

Belgard is where traditional barbering meets modern luxury, making it one of our favourite spots for men’s grooming in the city. What we love most about Belgard is that it’s not just about getting a haircut or a shave – it’s about the complete experience designed for the discerning gentleman.

When we stepped into Belgard, the first thing that caught our eye was the unique setting. Inspired by international counterparts, especially in Dubai, the vibe is all about relaxation and sophistication.

We even noticed they’ve got private spaces available for groups, which makes it perfect if you’re looking to turn your grooming session into a social affair.

  • Gift card promotions
  • Easy online booking
  • Competitive pricing
  • Unique setting

Cons

Offers a combination of great haircuts and meticulous care

“I have visited this barber shop about five times now and each time is fantastic. I have gotten both the haircut only and the cut and shave from Rami. Not only do they do a great mens haircut, but the attention to detail and care puts them above the rest. With a haircut you get a wash and hot towel to compliment the service. The shave adds in a straight razor shave with towels, face moisturiser and other care. As someone who works for a bank, they make it a point to make sure you don’t walk out with loose hair on your clothes before leaving. I really recommend coming here for top notch service and to leave looking amazing and feeling very relaxed!”

Features chic decor and jazz standards for a unique ambience

“Very professional barber services! They offer whiskey, coffee and or water while you’re waiting. I had a hair cut, a straight razor beard trim, black mask, ear and nose wax and a scalp massage. Chic decor and jazz standards playing on the radio. I loved the vibe and the staff. I totally recommend this experience in the heart of Montreal’s old port.”

Delivers a high-quality experience with talented and passionate barbers

“Amazing barbershop on the Plateau. The guys at KRWN are funny but also very talented and passionate about what they do. Prices are good, it’s easy and convenient to book your appointment online or by phone. They are also quite on time. Their schedule is also very good, so it’s never very complicated to get an appointment. I’m not supposed to say this, but Xavier is the best barber in town.”

“Awesome place for ur beard trim or haircut. They have talented barbers . Good service overall and products for your after care. I recommend this place for sure. CRISP Barbershop in Pointe-Saint-Charles caught our eye the moment we walked in. Designed by the renowned Canadian firm IVYSTUDIO, the shop’s interior is a masterpiece of minimalist design.

Exceeds expectations with top-notch service and skill

“I recently had the pleasure of getting a haircut from Alonso at CRISP and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Alonso’s attention to detail and precision were outstanding, resulting in a haircut that exceeded my expectations. Not only is he skilled in his craft, but his friendly demeanour and professionalism made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. If you’re looking for a top-notch haircut and excellent service, I highly recommend booking an appointment with Alonso. You won’t be disappointed!”

Provides a memorable experience for special community events

“The staff is not only very welcoming, but incredibly generous and talented! A few weeks ago, Autism without Limits (Autisme sans limites) organised an activity to go and visit CRISP Barbershop. They were very friendly, attentive and professional with our participants. To my surprise and their surprise too (it shows how nice they felt) they wanted to get haircuts and their beard shaped. At the end we heard comments like “J’aurais jamais pensé être capable de me faire couper les cheveux par quelqu’un”, they were all happy and felt more confident, we could see it right away. Sebastien was always available to organize the activity. We appreciate this beautiful gift they gave to our community. Even our director got his beard trimmed. Highly recommended!”
