The 5 best creative studios in Montreal every creative should know about

Every artist I know struggles to find that perfect spot for their shoot. Sure, using a natural location can be cheaper. But then you’ve got bugs, unpredictable sunlight, and a bunch of other surprises.

That’s where a studio comes in as the ultimate backup plan. But renting one? You’ve got to think about everything so your crew doesn’t end up dealing with the same headaches. You want your money to count, after all, right?

Don’t worry, you won’t have to go through so many studios just to find a good one. Our team already went out and checked the best creative studios in Montreal to find ones you can rely on. Trust us, these spots are ready to bring your projects to life.

How much does renting a creative studio cost in Montreal?

Renting a creative studio in Montreal can start around CAD $100 for hourly rates. Daily rentals, on the other hand, can range from CAD $250 up to over CAD $1,500.

How we chose the best creative studios in Montreal

Size and Layout: Creativity thrives in the right space, so we chose studios that are open, flexible, and have no cramped corners. We also considered whether they offer different layouts for common shoot setups.
Available Equipment and Amenities: We evaluated what’s included in the studio—lighting, props, Wi-Fi, and even sound systems.
Customer Service: We also looked at how responsive and helpful the studio staff were. Good support can make your experience smoother and hassle-free.
Pricing and Packages: We took into account the transparency, flexibility, and overall value of these studios’ pricing. Those that come with useful packages were prioritised.

1. Summer Camp Studios

It’s hard not to feel inspired the moment you step into Summer Camp Studios. With 3,800 square feet of space, you can basically do whatever you want here.

The space is super versatile, with a variety of setups to suit different styles.

There’s a clean white cyclorama for simple, professional shots, and a retro layout that’s full of character with vinyl records and warm wood.

We found their conversation pit very unique too, especially with the adjustable overhead lights. You can go from bright white to moody blue, but hey, you can always take advantage of the natural morning light streaming through the windows.

One of the best parts is that when you book, the whole studio is yours. It’s just a matter of time management if you want to make the most out of it.

Besides all the included equipment, their team is also helpful and approachable. Clients said they really know what they’re doing.

You have to remember, though, that the minimum booking is 2 hours and the cancellation policy is strict.

Still, with everything the studio offers, we really don’t mind it.

Pros

  • Spacious studio
  • Versatile setups
  • Adjustable lighting
  • Full studio access
  • Included equipment
  • Supportive and skilful team

Cons

  • Minimum booking requirement
  • Strict cancellation policy

100% recommend this great space!

2. Luma Lofts

Business hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 8 AM – 10 PM

The lighting in Luma Lofts is unreal. Big windows let in tons of natural daylight, which makes every shot look clean, bright, and effortless.

We could easily picture a lot of lifestyle content, wedding shoots, and family portraits thriving here. The neutral, beige tones make every corner feel warm and easy to style.

For longer shoots, we appreciate how they have a fully stocked kitchen, coffee machine, fridge, and even Wi-Fi.

This means you can survive a full day here without leaving for snacks or caffeine.

When it comes to gear, they also don’t hold back. Light stands, fabric and paper backdrops, makeup area—basically everything you might need to make your shoot happen is already here.

But it’s not all perfect. If your project leans more toward edgy or experimental, the neutral aesthetic might feel a bit tame.

And for video creators, heads up: the ceilings are high and the walls aren’t soundproofed. Your podcast might pick up a few car honks or stomping feet from time to time.

Pros

  • Incredible natural light
  • Clean and bright
  • Perfect for lifestyle content, weddings, and family portraits
  • Fully stocked kitchen and Wi-Fi
  • Included equipment

Cons

  • Not ideal for edgy or experimental projects
  • No soundproofing

Always a space to host beautiful events

“Love Luma Lofts! Always a space to host beautiful events. Perfect for an anniversary celebration. Beautiful and clean space. Loved being there for an event last week!”

3. Studio La Jungle

studio-la-jungle

Address: 4-4112 Saint Dominique St.

Contact: [email protected]
Business hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 8 AM – 10 PM

Website

Studio La Jungle feels like what would happen if a corporate boardroom went on a wellness retreat and came back covered in greenery.

The modern furniture gives it a polished edge, while the plants make you feel like you’re brainstorming in a rainforest with Wi-Fi. It’s ironic, but in the best way possible.

It’s flexible enough to handle a range of needs. The cyclo is perfect for minimalist shoots, the living room can put your clients and models at ease, and the office is for brainstorming sessions and moodboards.

Clients raved about the energy and how the team makes the whole experience smoother.

One even pointed out that it isn’t just for photography. It’s hosted yoga and speaking engagements too, so the space is very adaptable.

Commercial rates are fair, but what stood out to us is how much cheaper it is for students and indie creators.

We also found it amusing how they’re open to renting the studio monthly for six months or longer. It’s almost like a coworking space for visual artists or editors.

While the essentials are covered (lighting, kitchenette, bathroom), they don’t seem to have custom-built sets or advanced equipment on-site. It’s a little restrictive for large-scale productions.

Pros

  • Unique atmosphere
  • Flexible spaces
  • Large layout
  • Supportive team
  • Adaptable studio
  • Transparent and fair pricing
  • Option for long-term monthly rentals
  • Convenient amenities included

Cons

  • Limited speciality production equipment
  • No custom-built sets
  • Extra charges for add-ons

A stunning and well-designed space

“Such a stunning and well-designed space by an incredibly talented photographer and lovely human being. Highly and enthusiastically recommended both the space and the professional behind it. Claudia was our photographer at a recent yoga retreat in Guatemala and on top of jaw-dropping photos, she was so lovely to have around. Forever grateful, Thank you, Claudia!”

4. HAVEN creative space

haven-creative-space

Address: 7080 Rue Alexandra #505
Business hours:

  • Subject to availability

Website

HAVEN creative space isn’t your average four walls and a couple of light stands. It’s part creative agency, part rental space, and part hangout for creative people.

Their space is 1,200 square feet, flooded with natural light, concrete floors, and high ceilings. And when you want total control? They’ve got blackout curtains too.

We also loved how flexible they are. If you’re a big brand, they can pull together an entire team to handle your campaign from start to finish.

We checked out their portfolio and their Instagram page, and they’ve worked with some serious names. It’s really impressive!

If you’re more of a DIY creative or student, you can just rent the space and bring your own crew. The discounted $400 rate is a steal for what you’re getting.

Plus, if you need extra help, they can help you look for a studio manager, a light tech, or a digital tech. It’s kind of like building your own dream team, depending on how hands-on you want to be.

Now, a few things to keep in mind: while the base rental prices are fair, the extras (backdrops, extra hours, gear rentals) can start to nudge the total upward.

Pros

  • Versatility
  • Spacious studio space
  • Proven track record
  • Affordable for artists/students
  • Scalable support
  • Creative community vibe

Cons

  • Extra costs can add up
  • Not ideal for ultra-budget shoots

Fantastic space for pretty much anything you can think of!

“Fantastic space for pretty much anything you can think of! Fantastic lighting, amazingly equipped, and to top it all off, it is run by the most creative and energetic person!!! Use this space! You won’t regret it!”

Thomas Di Donato, Google review

A beautiful space

“A beautiful space with a calendar filled with a variety of interesting events. The team here has done an excellent job in making this a place for creativity to firmly take root.”

5. 2bloftstudio.Mtl

2bloftstudio-mtl

Address: 3810 Saint-Patrick St., Unit 2B

Business hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 7 AM – 10 PM

2bloftstudio sure has all the usual suspects—lights, seamless backdrops, a steamer—but then they throw in some surprises.

There’s a full kitchen, a viewing screen so you can check shots as you go, and even a tub that looks like it’s from a period film.

Honestly, the tub alone is reason enough to book if you’re doing boudoir, maternity, or anything that needs vintage vibes.

Our whole team agreed that the studio has a lot of personality baked in.

The Villa set, for example, has this breezy Tulum vibe that instantly elevates lifestyle or branding shoots.

Their booking process is also easy, especially since they respond quickly to questions. A client even mentioned the staff was flexible about extending their time.

However, the studio definitely runs a tight ship. There are rules for pretty much everything (rescheduling, cancellations, even how you use the loading dock), and they’re not shy about enforcing fees if you slip up.

It’s probably why the space stays so clean and polished. But if you’re the type who likes to wing it, this setup might feel stiff.

The cancellation fees, especially, don’t leave much breathing room.

Pros

  • Fully equipped
  • Vintage tub available
  • Ideal for maternity or boudoir shoots
  • Unique sets
  • Good natural light
  • Smooth booking process
  • Clean and well-maintained space

Cons

  • Strict rules and policies
  • Steep cancellation fees

Well-appointed, clean, welcoming, and the staff is wonderful!

“Not my first time at this studio, and never disappointing! Well-appointed, clean, welcoming, and the staff is wonderful! Several setups to photograph in, natural light streaming in beautifully throughout the day, providing many options for compositions. All at a very competitive, fair price. Highly recommended!”
