For fellow parents, we all know that taking the little ones to the dentist can be a little bit of a nightmare, right?  There are options that offer a kid-friendly environment, only to have unapproachable staff. In some cases, the staff is kid-friendly, but the environment isn’t.

Knowing how hard it is to find a trusted clinic, we made it our mission to help mums and dads choose a reputable place.

And to make sure only the most trusted clinics in Montreal made our list, our team ran polls among parents to gather the best names. Of course, everything was verified, observed, and compared to provide you only with the best insights.

1. Trottier-Nolet Dental Clinic for Children

One major highlight at Trottier-Nolet Dental Clinic is their use of painless anaesthesia. This was made possible through their osteocentral anaesthesia, a European technology they’ve used for 17 years. We find this a great advantage since kids tend to be anxious when meeting dentists.

Their approach to anxious kids is further alleviated by their equipment, which emits up to 80% less radiation. With this in place, both parents and their kids will feel at ease with the level of safety,

Observing at their clinic, we were thoroughly impressed with their ability to work with toddlers as young as 19 months. They’re patient and skilful and never proceed with treatments without fully consulting the parents first.

You may just find it disappointing that they don’t allow parents into the treatment rooms. While we understand how that can be a dealbreaker, we also see it as a great opportunity to teach kids to feel braver at every visit.

When it comes to equipment and amenities, J’aime Mes Dents was one of the few that truly impressed us. Their clinic has closed treatment rooms, digital X-rays, and a sterilisation centre to deliver safe and effective treatments.

Speaking of treatments, we liked that they can accommodate kids as young as 6 to 7 months old. Even better, their staff are super patient, and we noted that kids appear to have less anxiety when around them.

The same thing can be said about their customer service. The front desk is accommodating, and booking an appointment is easy and seamless, something we know parents value highly beyond the quality of service.

However, that’s also where they need a few improvements here and there. A few clients noted that they felt the reception staff were rude and unwelcoming.

Seeing that it’s an isolated case and the quality of offerings remains consistent, we still find them a stellar choice.

This dental clinic has exactly what we’re looking for when it comes to services. Their offerings are comprehensive, offering everything from preventive care to management of more complex issues.

We also favour their approach to anxious patients, using nitrous oxide and general anaesthesia (in more demanding cases).

Our team members also noted that the environment is very warm. And it’s not only with their welcoming space – their staff actually explain the procedure to both the parent and kid, so the little ones also feel included.

The rough side, though, is scheduling issues often arise due to growing demand. This is true even in cases requiring urgent care. 

However, we did note that for general services like tooth extraction and teeth cleaning, appointments were timely. We recommend reaching out to them via phone to really clarify their availability for the day.

We liked that the range of services at Dents Mon Quartier is broad. It spans from general dentistry and surgery to orthodontics and cosmetic treatments. With these, parents don’t have to look for other clinics to find a specific service.

Their approach to gum disease is another reason they earned our favour. Rather than immediately resorting to surgical treatments, they offer a non-surgical gum disease program that is less invasive and less costly.

We also loved that appointments feel smooth and never rushed, which is fantastic for kids. In addition, their staff are very gentle with toddlers and preschoolers, making them feel more comfortable before any procedure.

We just noted that they have the tendency to upsell unnecessary procedures. It’s best to be mindful of these tactics.

5. ELNA Dentaire

ELNA Dentaire’s team and equipment stood out to us. Their crew consists of 6 specialised dentists, so there’s a bit of flexibility when it comes to availability, unlike other clinics with only one practitioner.

As for equipment, they have technology such as 3D imaging and digital radiography, eliminating the need for extra lab visits for certain treatments. Even their waiting rooms have ergonomic massage chairs, so waiting around is relaxing.

For services, they have everything a kids’ dental clinic needs, including cleaning, scaling, and tooth extraction. They even have conscious sedation for more anxious children, which we found helpful for more demanding cases.

However, we did encounter reports from parents that their staff doesn’t have the best approach when it comes to calming kids down. There’s clearly still some room for improvement in these matters.
