The 10 best bike shops in Montreal for quality parts and services

Montreal is a city built for cyclists. With bike lanes spanning over 1,000 kilometres and a cycling culture that thrives year-round, it’s no surprise that riders here demand only the best when it comes to their bikes.

The challenge, however, is that not every shop is equipped to meet those demands. Pick the wrong shop and you’d be stuck with long wait times, limited parts, or inexperienced staff.

But don’t worry, I won’t let you go through that. I already researched and visited Montreal’s best bike shops to find the ones that offer quality parts, high-performance rides, and expert repairs.

See who made the cut here!

1. Giant Montreal

Website: https://shopgiantmontreal.ca/

Address: 5252 Sherbrooke St W

Contact Details: +1 514 439 1168 and [email protected]

Operating Hours:

  • Tuesday to Friday – 10 AM to 6 PM
  • Saturday – 10 AM to 5 PM

Pricing: $$$

I like the wide selection of bikes that Giant Montreal sells. They offer bikes for kids, adults, and even have pre-loved bicycles.

What’s even better is that they also sell an extensive range of accessories. From a wide variety of helmets to different colours of eyewear, they have it all. I was even able to rent a top-quality travel bike bag from them!

The best part? They offer 0% interest financing, payable for six or 12 months. It’s a big help if you need a new bike but don’t have enough funds.

Pro Tip:
Don’t just shop, check out their #5252 museum! It stores unique and iconic Giant bikes from the 1980s, plus memorabilia signed by well-known professional riders. It’s located within their Cafe 5252.

2. Bicycles Eddy

  • Thursday and Friday – 9:30 AM to 7 PM
  • Saturday – 9:30 AM to 5 PM

Pricing: $$

Bicycles Eddy is one of Montreal’s best bike shops for kids. They sell kids’ bikes ranging from 12 inches up to 26 inches, with many sizes in between. They even have push, road, and junior mountain bikes.

But don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just a kids’ shop. Bike Eddy also carries different kinds of speciality bikes, including dirt jump and folding bikes. They even have a few BMX bikes in stock, so I recommend seasoned riders to swing by too.

On top of all that, their tune-up services make maintaining bikes easy. From basic inspections and frame cleaning to all-encompassing service, Bike Eddy has every rider covered.

Pro Tip:
Don’t forget to ask about their 10-day price policy so you don’t miss a deal after your purchase. Buy at least $199 worth of accessories and parts for free ground shipping.

Cycles Union is one of the most reliable bike shops in Montreal during winter. Even during winter, their mechanic provides service for just $60. They handle everything, from maintenance to full lubrication.

Aside from seasonal service, they’re also reliable when it comes to general bike services. If you’re bike needs wheel building, hydraulic brake purging, or a total overhaul, Cycles Union has the skills to get it running smoothly.

Daily commuters are in luck too. With their selection of hybrid, city, and adventure bikes, there’s something for every ride and every rider.

Pro Tip:
Have your bike stored in their heated and secured space during winter for $15 a month, available from October every year. When you store your bike with them, you’ll get a 10% discount on labour for maintenance during the storage period.

I like Émile Bicyclettes’ a la carte services. They can adjust your bike’s brakes, align its wheels, and even produce customised accessories like a mud flap. They’re the ideal shop if you only need one kind of repair or service.

If you’re looking for more comprehensive care, they also offer three-tiered repair packages. For $60, your bike can get a dependable safety tune-up that includes chain cleaning and lubrication, tyre inflation, and a hardware check.

What’s great is that they also provide camping essentials, such as camp stoves, canisters, and many more. They’re a must-visit shop before a long bikepacking adventure.

Pro Tip:
Schedule your tune-up online and make sure to drop off your bike by 1 PM on the day of your appointment!

Lurlu Coop is a repair-only bike shop in Montreal that’s very suitable for people with a limited budget. They promote eco-friendly service, offering used parts instead of new ones.

They offer three-tiered tune-ups, starting from minor repairs and adjustments to full maintenance. Opt for their full focus package if you want a safety tightening maintenance for your bike’s two wheels.

It’s a huge plus that they also offer winter-related services. They provide customised winter tune-ups, must-have winter bike parts, and even a winter storage space for your bikes.

Pro Tip:
I recommend gathering three fellow cycling enthusiast friends and enrolling in their training workshop to learn how to repair a bike. Since they are a cooperative store, donate if you can, as they rely on community support.

EZbike is the shop to visit for all kinds of electric rides, from e-bikes and e-scooters to electric unicycles (EUCs). I find them ideal for commuters looking for a comfortable, reliable ride to work or school.

On top of that, their store is stocked with all the parts and accessories you might need—tyres, batteries, and chargers.

And if something ever goes wrong, you can also go to them and have it fixed. They offer extensive repair services, making them a one-stop shop for your e-ride’s equipment and maintenance.

Pro Tip:
They offer test rides on their e-bikes and e-scooters, so make sure to try them first before purchasing! Ask about refurbished models if you’re on a budget for a chance to score a brand-new-like ride at a lower price.

7. Allo Vélo

Operating Hours:

  • Tuesday to Friday – 10 AM to 6 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday – 10 AM to 5 PM

Pricing: $$$

If you’re looking for European-style bikes, I highly recommend Allo Vélo. Their selection ranges from comfort-focused Dutch-style bikes with upright riding positions to models with integrated accessories like fenders and racks.

Not only that, they’re the only bike shop in the city that sells e-cargo bikes that can safely carry up to four children. This is a great investment for a school service for multiple children at your home.

However, what I like most is the wide range of safety gear they sell. Aside from helmets, they also offer different kinds of bike locks, magnetic lights, and bells.

Pro Tip:
Rent one of their cargo bikes first before investing! You can rent it for a month, so you have plenty of time to see if it really fits your needs.

Trek Bicycle is one of the best mountain bike shops in Montreal. Their selection ranges from full suspension and hardtail to electric mountain bikes. If you’re an adventurer who loves to sweat on muddy or rocky singletracks, the shop’s bikes are perfect for you.

Beyond mountain bikes, they also offer an extensive range of parts and accessories. I was able to outfit my ride exactly how I want, thanks to Trek’s wide range of frames and saddles.

Their 24-hour turnaround time for bike repairs and services is also amazing. If your bike isn’t ready in time, they’ll give you a demo bike that you can use for free while you’re waiting.

Pro Tip:
Take advantage of their free car rack installation when you purchase a bike from them!

9. Cycle Robert

Operating since 1967, Cycle Robert is one of the most-trusted bike shops in Montreal when it comes to proper bike fitting. Their veteran mechanics have fitted thousands of cyclists with different body anatomies.

Fitting doesn’t just end at bikes too. Riders also have a wide selection of jerseys to choose from. There are even a few sleeveless options if you prefer those.

Aside from their excellent fitting service, I highly recommend them to people looking for reliable road bikes. They have performance road bikes, adventure road bikes, and more.

Pro Tip:
Don’t forget to browse their electronic gear too! They have a wide range of bike computers and GPS devices.

10. Davélo

One of Davélo’s strong points is their partnership with Posivelo, a well-known bike optimisation company. They have a Posivelo studio right in the shop, so it’s easy to get your bike fitted and optimised.

Their bike selection is also impressive. They offer five different types, including road, mountain, and hybrid. Whether you want to hit the trails or cruise the city, you’ll likely find a good ride here.

Don’t skip their accessories either. From baby seats and lights to gloves and socks, Davélo makes it easy to pamper your ride and yourself.
