We really love how HPadar combines luxury and craftsmanship to create suits that truly stand out. Using top-quality fabrics like Scabal and Loro Piana, each piece feels more like a statement than just clothing.

They offer both bespoke and ready-to-wear collections, making it easy to find something that fits your style and budget. We’ve even seen their work featured in GQ, Vogue, and La Presse – talk about style cred.

What we appreciate most is their personal touch. Whether you’re after classic business wear or something that’ll turn heads at your next event, they’re all about making sure you feel like a million bucks.

Pros

  • Top-quality materials
  • Personalised experience
  • Prestigious reputation
  • Versatile options

Cons

  • A few reports of poor customer service

Handles high-end menswear brands with precision

“HPadar is absolutely the best tailor / alterations shop in Montréal. Have been going to Hose and his team for at least 15 years and have received the highest quality service at reasonable prices. I trust Hose and his team with the most important jobs complex jacket alterations, functioning buttons sleeves (surgeons cuffs), outerwear (rain coats and overcoats), learher jackets. They also do alterations for several high end downtown menswear stores and work on Kiton, Isaia, Borrrelli, and Attolini tailoring pieces.  This place has several tailors working there, so alterations are always done on time. They also do/sell some ready to wear and made to measure men’s wear.”

Reproduces precise cuts and unique styles with expertise

“Came to HPadar for a very tricky job: adjusting waist, tapering and length of the pants that I had bought 2 sizes too big and in a very baggy unflattering style. They did an amazing job. I wanted the cut to be fitted at the hips and flaring out at the bottom of the leg. They reproduced my dream cut. Looked like a brand new pair of pants. Very fast too, I came to pick them up 2 days early and they were ready and waiting for me. Stellar customer service too: the tailor’s assistant was very patient with me, answered all my worries and repainted the fabric on the side of my leg until I was satisfied. A bit pricey- about $75+ tax, but well worth it. I will be back with other jobs in the future that’s certain.”

Creates custom garments that delight and impress

“Battaglia & Aly has always been my husband’s go-to spot for bespoke pieces, so when I wanted to get a suit jacket made for him, as a gift for his birthday, I didn’t think twice. I was assisted by the owner, Sandro who catered to my requests, respected my budget and met my tight timeline! The attention to detail and added special touches we’re perfect. My husband was thrilled and I’m extremely happy with my experience and look forward to seeing him wear his beautiful suit jacket, made especially for him by a local shop! Thank you, Sandro!”

Provides a personalised and memorable tailoring experience

“I can’t say enough about how excellent my experience was with Sandro and his team at Battaglia & Aly. Trusting Sandro’s advice was the right decision. I’ve had tailored suits before and they don’t come close to the one they made for me to wear at my wedding. It’s not often you have as many people complementing the groom’s suit as the bride’s dress (and, trust me, she looked unbelievable). Thank you guys! I won’t be looking elsewhere in the future.”

Rescues poorly fitted suits with expert alterations

“They saved me from having to buy another $$$ suit!! Basically, I ordered a suit online (don’t do this) and it was terribly misshapen, awful quality, and just so so bad. So I brought it to Tailleur Prestige and we get through together what he can do, how he’ll do it, and what actually makes a good quality suit. When I picked up the suit it was completely different! It fit so well and came out exactly how I wanted it in the first place! Very kind and I will go back when I have enough $$$ to get a suit made from scratch. 10/10 recommend. You pay for a knowledgeable tailor who is honest about what can be done and you’ll leave feeling more educated about the clothes you buy in general.”

Provides a go-to solution for tailoring needs in Montreal

“I had a wool pea coat tailored and I was extremely happy with the result. I had the sleeves shortened and the body taken in. The process was quick and professional. The price was competitive but fair and it is a local business that deserves more attention. If you need a tailor in Montreal, look no further! I could not recommend Tailleur Prestige more!”

Whether you’re looking for a sharp suit or even custom footwear, they’ve got you covered with some of the world’s finest fabrics. They don’t let a single detail slip through the cracks – every garment is scrutinised to perfection.

What really sets them apart is the way they treat you like family. We’ve had a few private consultations, and it’s clear they’re all about building a genuine connection. We didn’t feel like they were just selling us a suit.

They’re also not afraid to get creative – like their “Torrance collar,” which is perfect if you’re after something a bit more unique. And let’s not forget the Crescent Street boutique, which feels like stepping into a luxe fashion haven.

Provides a seamless and satisfying tailoring experience

“I love beautifully tailored shirts which, for women, aren’t easy to find. I searched for a tailor who would make shirts for women and Arthur rose to the challenge. They were amazing to work with. Such professionalism, patience, and attention to detail are hard to come by. David was so helpful in making recommendations and suggestions and the end product is beautiful. Thank you to all of you! I’m so glad I found you.”

Tina Cantrill, Google Review

Delivers a memorable first-time bespoke experience

“I was shopping for a 3-piece suit for my wedding. The experience at Arthur was simply amazing. This was my first bespoke experience, but John and David provided a lot of ideas and professional insights. They will make sure that the suit belongs to you and also represent you. It was also a learning opportunity about the techniques and the industry. I would definitely recommend Arthur to anyone who is looking for a piece of premium customized suit.”

5. Mike Alterations

Location: 1118 Saint-Catherine St W suite 200, Montreal, Quebec H3B 1H5, Canada

Contact: +1 514-397-8852

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday – 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Saturday – 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM

We’ve got to say, Mike Alterations on Saint-Catherine Street has become one of our favourite go-to spots for tailoring in Montreal.

Whether it’s hemming a pair of jeans, resizing a suit, or tackling those tricky alterations that make it feel like your clothes were custom-made, they’ve got the skills to make it happen.

We love how they can even do same-day service – perfect for those last-minute wardrobe fixes.

Talking to some of their regulars, we found that their attention to detail really stands out. This is especially true when it comes to reinforcing high-stress areas like the groyne of chinos. It’s clear they’re not just about making your clothes fit better – they’re about making them last.

Our only gripe is that we wish they had a website like most of the other tailors we’ve reviewed. It would make booking and browsing their services so much easier.

Pros

  • Expert craftsmanship
  • Same-day service
  • Durability focused

Cons

  • No website

Uses intuitive methods for perfect and custom fits

“I brought in some band shirts, as most of their sleeves don’t fit well. Mike didn’t even grab a tape, he simply drew a line on the shirt with a chalk as his measurement. The shirts now fit me like a perfect baseball glove; unbelievable. Mike and Bilal are true gentlemen, they take the time to make sure you are entirely satisfied. Will definitely return! Can’t recommend enough!”

Nicola Nucciarone, Google Review

Creates a tailored look that exceeds expectations

“I bought a larger sized suit because it was on sale. When I arrived and asked for a quote, I was surprised at how reasonable it was. I had to alter the length of the jacket, shorten sleeves, tighten the pants (36 to 32) , and fix the length. The suit fits like a glove and looks amazing!”
