Dr. Kakon started Clinique Dentaire du Vieux Montreal back in ’88, and it’s seriously grown since then. It’s not just the size that impressed us – they’ve got a whole team of dentists, hygienists, and even a periodontist.
Some of our friends had gone there for everything from regular cleanings to getting braces, and they couldn’t stop raving about the friendly staff and how thorough the dentists were. So, of course, we had to see for ourselves.
We were really impressed with their state-of-the-art equipment, especially the laser they use for gum treatments. It seems way less scary than traditional methods. Plus, they offer everything you could need, from whitening to implants.
The clinic’s focus on prevention is a big plus in our book. They do comprehensive exams and cleanings recommended every six months to keep your oral health in top shape.
The fact that they take a bunch of different insurance plans is a huge help too. It makes quality dental care accessible to more people, which is always a good thing.
Pros
- Range of services
- Years of experience
- Focus on preventive care
- Accepts dental insurance
Cons
- A few reports of poor customer service
Listens attentively to patients’ needs and goals
“I first went to Clinique Dentaire du Vieux Montréal for an Invisalign consultation with Dr. Gabriel Kakon. He took his time to listen to my needs and what end result I was hoping for. I was blown away by the technology. He was able to show me a 3D digital model of what my mouth looked like and how my teeth would shift week by week by using the Invisalign trays. He was very thorough, professional, gentle, and overall a very nice person. The clinic is nicely renovated and the staff is very friendly. I used to dread going to the dentist but not anymore. Dr. Kakon has made it a great experience and I’m happy to say he’s my new dentist!”

Demonstrates tooth work via mirror for better understanding
I recommend Dr. Lisa McGregor. I asked her weird, nerdy questions like what percentage of the tooth she was “removing” to make room for the filling, where 100% is removing all that can be removed without destroying the tooth’s structural integrity. And she actually gave me a rough percentage and showed me via mirror what it looked like. I’m a weird one, I admit, but she entertained my intellectual curiosity and was super friendly and professional. A+”
2. Dentistes Sur Drummond

We were pretty impressed with Dentistes Sur Drummond’s technology. They use CEREC, which means you can get a new crown in just one visit – no more waiting around for weeks. They also have all the other fancy gadgets you’d expect, like digital X-rays and intraoral cameras.
Their team is top-notch. Dr. Malouf has been in the game for over 30 years and is one of the go-to guys for implants and Invisalign. Dr. Doucet also got some great feedback, especially from folks who get a little nervous at the dentist.
They offer pretty much everything you could need, whether it’s just a regular cleaning or something more serious like a root canal. They even do cosmetic stuff like veneers and whitening, which is a bonus.
Their online booking is a nice touch too, and super convenient for scheduling appointments.
Pros
- Use of advanced technology
- Wide range of services
- Convenient online booking
Cons
- A few reports of high costs
Explains treatments clearly and informatively
“The best dental care I have ever experienced! I am always very anxious at the dentist, and I was terrified when I had to do the root canal for my infected tooth, but Dr Sara Doucet did a great job of making me feel comfortable and anxiety-free! She was gentle, knowledgeable, and very informative. She explained all the treatments and made sure the entire procedure was painless. She also made the crown shade look identical to my other teeth, which is really thoughtful. I would highly recommend her to anyone.”

Avoids pressuring patients into unnecessary procedures
“Amazing staff who are friendly and knowledgeable. The clinic is clean, and has a nice aesthetic that makes it enjoyable to be there. They use state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to monitor your teeth. I never feel like I am being pressured to get a procedure (like a filling) unless I absolutely need to have it done. Dr. Malouf is fast at performing fillings, they never hurt. Quick and painless. This is coming from someone who really used to hate/fear the dentist.”

Boasts friendly staff who alleviate dental exam anxiety
“I went to this clinic today and I have to say that their Covid protocols are very well in place and I think it’s a really good thing. The staff are so friendly, they made me feel very appreciated and also took the anxiety out of dental exams which let’s face it aren’t the most fun thing in the world. The hygienist and the doctor were excellent, very thorough and took their time to explain things to me. I really liked this clinic, so much so in fact I will register my son with them next week for his annual checkups and cleanings. Thank you for being so amazing it truly is hard to find such a wonderful group of professionals in this day and age!”

Explains every step thoroughly to ensure patient comfort
“I want to express my thanks and gratitude to Dr. Shaat, his assistant, Susan, and the rest of the staff. My son has severe phobias, and they took the time to talk to him and find out what his fears were about, they explained to him, every step of the way what he would feel and hear, and they answered each of his questions. Not once did they rush him or push him to just get on with it, even though it took more time than would normally be required (they actually scheduled extra time just to be sure that the next patient would not be delayed). Because of the great care, compassion, patience and kindness that they demonstrated, my son was finally able to have his procedure done (without sedation!!!!!!!). I give the highest recommendation possible for Dr. Shaat and his staff.”

Ensures consistent follow-ups and accommodates emergency visits
“In these times it is, very sadly, rare to find medical personnel in any branch of the field that offers competence, deliver diagnoses and procedural explanations with crystal clarity, extend a gracious welcome, never fail to follow up, and are prepared to receive emergency visits in short delay. The Drummond Dental Group is an oasis in this landscape. Upon entering the clinic the patient enters into an atmosphere of security and professionalism assured by the staff and the professionals .Going to the dentist’s is never fun, but going to see these dentists and their staff is a very pleasant and healing experience.”
