They collect your loved one, manage all the necessary paperwork, and return the ashes to the family after carrying out the cremation.

For many people, that simplicity is exactly the point. There’s no upselling, no complicated add-ons, and no pressure to make decisions while emotionally exhausted.

One of their strongest traits is their communication. Families mentioned being guided step by step.

The team is calm and respectful, helping make an otherwise overwhelming process feel more manageable.

We also like that they’re affordable. Because Cleo operates entirely online and by phone, it avoids the overhead of traditional funeral homes. 

That said, the limitations are just as clear as the benefits. They don’t offer other funeral services beyond direct cremation.

Dar-al Iman by Magnus Poirier stands out for one clear reason: they understand the religious, cultural, and emotional weight of a Muslim funeral.

Every rite and tradition is handled with care, especially the ritual washing. Families say it was always done respectfully and without a rush.

Their team is very supportive. Every part of the service and wake was handled gently, but also flexibly.

We even heard from families who weren’t fully familiar with Muslim customs but wanted to honour a loved one’s wishes. The staff took the time to explain everything and guide them through the process.

The facilities are calm, elegant, and spacious. They have two presentation rooms, a reception area, and a rest space that works well for caterers and florists.

They also got you when it comes to international repatriation. One family mentioned they’ve handled Algerian Consulate arrangements and managed to return their father home within a tight timeframe.

Pricing does come up as a downside, though. It’s not the cheapest option, but considering everything that’s included and how well they handle it, it’s just fair.

Kane Fetterly offers a wide range of funeral options and seems well prepared to support families from different faiths, cultures, and backgrounds.

They handle cremation, burial, or even international repatriation. From everything we’ve gathered, they’re used to handling complicated logistics.

Clients also repeatedly mention the team’s empathy and kindness. They’re also attentive, even when requests get technically tricky.

One family had relatives who couldn’t attend in person. Their webcasting options—including live streams and interactive Zoom setups—were useful for families spread across different locations.

The reception spaces are also thoughtfully planned. The three-hour packages come with linens, staff support, and simple comforts. These may seem like small touches, but they go a long way on an emotionally draining day.

We also found it helpful that they have an option to bring in outside catering.

However, their audio equipment can be a bit unpredictable sometimes. We suggest doing sound checks in advance.

Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges is a big funeral home that’s built for moments when a lot of people are expected to show up.

The building is massive, spread across three floors. They have two chapels and five reception rooms. Each chapel can seat about 150 people.

One chapel has a more traditional, church-style feel with pews and a grand piano. The artwork throughout the space is amazing, especially with paintings by local Quebec artists.

The second chapel is a bit lighter, with large windows looking out over Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. 

What seems to win people over, though, is how passionate the team is in personalisation. 

In one instance, a young boy who loved Lego passed away. The staff leaned into that fully, with Lego-style flower pieces and displays of his creations in the reception space.

They also handle all the paperwork, which lessens the stress. Several families mentioned how supportive and guiding they were.

That said, we did notice repeated comments about extra fees that weren’t always clear up front. Not everyone ran into this, but it came up often enough to be worth mentioning.

The physical setting is one of Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Homes’ strongest cards. 

The chapel has wooden pews, stained-glass windows, and loads of natural light. It can hold up to 250 people, but they also have private viewing rooms if you’re planning something smaller.

Having a piano on site is handy too, especially for families who want live or traditional music.

They also put much effort into personalising services. Families mentioned that the staff took the time to listen and helped design a funeral that reflected who their loved one really was.

We heard how respectful they were too, around both wishes and budget. 

Someone even highlighted how quickly they handled important paperwork, even sorting out a missing document for a burial sea almost immediately.

Phone communication seems to be their weak spot, though. One person said they called multiple times over a month without ever getting a callback.
