Merging diverse combat sports under one roof saves you from paying separate memberships across the city, which is where H2O MMA stands out. They bring together BJJ, boxing, Muay Thai kickboxing, judo, and Olympic wrestling into a unified setup.
Their broad roster means beginners can build versatile self-defence skills without travelling between different speciality rooms. Their BJJ program operates under the philosophy that leverage and technique conquer sheer physical mass.
Whether you train in traditional gi or no-gi grappling, the drills teach you to stay composed and counter larger training partners. If you want structured conditioning alongside striking, their specialised kickboxing bootcamps can push your cardio output.
The trade-off is they’re closed on Sundays, so weekend warriors lose a prime training day.

2. Tristar Gym

Website: https://tristargym.com/
Address: HQ – 5275 Ferrier St #312
Contact: +1 (514) 343-0148
Hours: Monday-Friday: 10:00 AM-9:30 PM; Saturday: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM; Sunday: 11:00 AM-5:00 PM
Tristar Gym builds their training philosophy on deep biomechanics, athletic movement, and mental fortitude.
Their facility offers integrated mixed martial arts alongside pure wrestling, BJJ, Muay Thai, and traditional boxing. This level of tactical structure helps aspiring fighters understand how distance control and timing dictate full-contact exchanges.
When we spoke to their staff about the flow, they highlighted how their wrestling classes emphasise cage takedown control rather than isolated sports grappling.
In fact, having legendary figures like Georges St-Pierre on the coaching roster brings an elite atmosphere that keeps drills sharp. Active athletes who need serious fight camp prep can test their conditioning alongside top-level sparring partners every afternoon.
However, this gym closes by 5:00 PM on both weekend days, which limits evening mat availability for weekend cross-trainers.

A big Thank you to all the Tristar team helping me reaching my goals. It’s a privilege to be able to learn from the best jiu-jitsu/mma athletes.
I’m grateful to be part of the Tristar family.

3. Angry Monkey MMA

Website: https://www.angrymonkeymma.com/
Address: 5139 Rue de Verdun
Contact: (514) 543-6107
Hours:
- Monday: 5:00 PM – 8:50 PM

- Wednesday: 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM
- Friday: 3:30 PM – 5:45 PM
- Saturday: 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Finding ample elbow room during peak evening class hours can be tricky, but Angry Monkey Mixed Martial Arts solves that with 5,500 square feet of floor space.
Their head coach Justin Etheridge blends traditional boxing combinations and Muay Thai striking with rigorous physical conditioning. That dual focus helps fitness lovers burn energy while mastering accurate footwork and punching mechanics.
Beyond scheduled group classes and private sessions, they provide dedicated open gym access for independent practice.
Actually, a training partner told me the coaches draw heavily on actual competitive ring experience, which keeps technique tips realistic during mitt work.
You can also pair your combat striking with standard lifting, much like working out at the top gyms to keep your conditioning baseline high.
The downside comes down to Friday availability, as the mats shut down early at 5:45 PM right when most professionals finish their commute. Plus, you can’t leave things on lockers overnight, so you have to haul sweaty gear back and forth each session.
Simply a great martial art school
Always great workout! Justin (the coach) really puts his heart and soul into what he does. Love learning about muy tai. Getting in shape has never been more fun, Simply a great martial art school. The teachers are very experienced very respectful and they push you to the limit so you can grow. The students are very humble polite friendly and they work hard. Signs of great teachers. The establishment is very specious very clean with a lot of good quality equipment students can use .highly recommended 👍🏽

4. Titans Academy

Website: https://titansacademy.ca/
Address: 8782 Saint-Laurent Blvd.
Contact: (514) 419-9010
Hours: Monday to Friday: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM; Saturday: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Mastering the art of eight limbs requires patient technical guidance, and Titans Academy brings over a decade of striking heritage. Head coach Kru Ash leads a curriculum focused on personal growth, clean form, and sustainable self-defense.
Beginners start by refining basic punches, roundhouse kicks, and knee strikes without getting tossed into heavy sparring before their guard is steady.
Their advanced practitioners get access to competitive sparring rounds and fight strategy drills that push physical stamina to the limit. They also run specialised youth courses that teach striking fundamentals without full-force impacts.
The significant drawback is that Titans Academy doesn’t offer ground grappling, wrestling, or cage submission arts.
I highly recommend this gym
Very talented and technical coaches that will guide you through your progression. The gym is very clean and the equipment is well maintained. There is also an actual fighting team there which is good if you really want to push yourself further into the sport. I highly recommend this gym.

Hours: Monday-Friday: 12:00 PM-9:00 PM; Saturday: 12:00 PM-5:00 PM; Sunday: 10:00 AM-2:00 PM
Operating steadily since 2011, Thai Long Gym delivers a diverse martial arts training environment right along Jean-Talon Ouest.
They balance stand-up disciplines like Muay Thai and Western boxing with ground systems like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Olympic wrestling. That approach allows mixed martial arts students to cross-train without missing critical elements of their game.
Their schedule accommodates varied skill sets, featuring junior BJJ for children and dedicated women’s Muay Thai sessions.
This gym also has dedicated weightlifting equipment on site, letting you complete strength sets before jumping into evening sparring. That setup saves you the hassle of juggling two separate memberships across town just to stay fit.
The catch is that complimentary full-access privileges to all amenities require a standard membership contract.
This gym truly feels like a community
This gym truly feels like a community, which is one of the many reasons to keep coming back. On top of that, I had the pleasure of training with and learning from Coach Jacques today. He went out of his way to help and provide valuable information, even outside of his teaching time, and he did so freely and willingly. His work ethic is remarkable.
I highly recommend this gym.
