The 5 best pilates instructors in Montreal who’ll actually transform your body

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

The 5 best pilates instructors in Montreal who’ll actually transform your body

Pilates has been the workout everyone can’t stop talking about online. And honestly, we understand why. It’s gentler than those brutal HIIT sessions, but still works wonders for toning your body.

If you’ve been curious and are ready to give it a try, there’s no better way than getting proper guidance.

Luckily, Montreal has a lot of skilled pilates instructors. Our team has even rounded up the best ones to help you get started.

How much does a pilates instructor in Montreal charge for a service?

A pilates instructor in Montreal usually charges about CAD $80–$100 for a private hour, and about CAD $25–$35 for group classes.

How we chose the best pilates instructors in Montreal

Certifications and Training Background: We chose instructors with recognised Pilates certifications and training under their belts.
Specialisation: We looked at each instructor’s strengths. Some excel in Reformer and Cadillac work, others bring strong rehabilitation experience, and a few focus on athletic conditioning. This helped us match their expertise to what clients need.
Communication: We went with instructors who explained movements clearly, offered helpful cues, and knew how to correct form without making people feel scolded.
Pricing: We selected instructors whose rates make sense for the level of expertise offered. They must prioritise fair and transparent pricing without any add-on fees sneaking in.

Business hours:

MTLPILATES has a progression system. You don’t just wander into an advanced class. Instead, you need a teacher’s evaluation before levelling up. For us, it’s a plus. It keeps the classes safe, smart, and consistent.

The class offerings are solid: group, private, and duet. There are even options for reformer, mixed equipment, or Level 4.

Their mixed-equipment classes are a bit of a playground for instructors—wunda chair, ladder barrel, even mat.

A lot of people also mentioned how the instructors balance attentiveness with challenge, even in bigger groups.

That level of detail and control shows in their sequencing since everything has a purpose.

Another big win is accessibility. Classes run throughout the day, making it easy to squeeze in a session.

Despite all the strengths, we’ve heard one recurring issue: beginners may struggle. People said that classes feel more tailored to those with plenty of pilates mileage.

The instructors are careful and mindful of injuries, but the pace and technical precision may feel overwhelming for true newbies.

The progression requirement helps, but only if people understand it… and that leads to the app suggestion.

It’d be best if their app adds a warning or prevents bookings unless prerequisites are met.

Pros

  • Structured progression
  • Variety of classes
  • Mixed equipment opportunities
  • Attentive instructors
  • Purposeful sequencing
  • Classes are available all day

Cons

  • Not beginner-friendly
  • Lack of app warning

The instructors truly care about the progression and well-being of everyone

“MTL Pilates Lab is the best pilates studio that I’ve ever visited. The location and equipment are pristine, and you can tell that the instructors truly care about the progression and well-being of each person in the class. It has been a staple during my time at McGill!”

I leave my classes feeling refreshed and stronger

“Love this pilates studio! It’s new and clean, with a bright atmosphere and soothing ambience. The instructors are knowledgeable and offer helpful corrections or alternatives for those who have injuries. In my experience, the difficulty of each level is challenging enough to get a good workout in. I leave my classes feeling refreshed and stronger. The booking system has been improved recently, too, with many time slots available for each level, which I appreciate. For the services I receive, I find the pricing to be very, very reasonable!”

2. 514 Pilates

Address: 6660 Bd Décarie A

Phone: +1 514-515-6354
Business hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 7 AM – 8 PM
  • Saturday to Sunday: 9 AM – 1 PM

Website

514 Pilates is for those who want their sessions with a side of sweat. Their focus leans heavily toward athletic and high-energy classes.

The team of seven instructors consistently comes up in customer feedback as a major strength.

People said they’re all clear with cues, attentive to form, and able to make every participant feel at ease.

Every class is uplifting and motivating. This not only keeps the flow smooth but also makes the intensity feel manageable.

Booking in advance is important since classes fill up quickly. We also noticed that the cancellation policy is a bit strict.

It allows full credit only if you cancel 12 hours in advance, so this might be inconvenient for clients with unpredictable schedules.

On the brighter side, their class packages are a real perk for frequent attendees. The 50-session package in particular offers great value compared to single-class pricing.

Pros

  • High-energy and athletic-focused classes
  • Attentive instructors
  • Welcoming atmosphere
  • Motivating classes
  • Smooth flow
  • Class packages are of good value

Cons

  • Strict cancellation policy
  • Classes fill up quickly

Chloe’s one of the best instructors I’ve had

“I’ve taken several classes with Chloe Muzzo, and she’s honestly one of the best instructors I’ve had. She’s always clear with her cues, attentive to form, and makes everyone feel comfortable, whether you’re a beginner or more advanced. Her energy is uplifting, and she takes the time to ensure the class flows smoothly. I’ve seen real progress thanks to her, and I always leave her classes feeling stronger and more confident. Highly recommend!”

She corrects us when we are doing something wrong and has eyes on all of us

“I was afraid of doing reformer pilates. Did a few classes with Samara, and she’s AMAZING. She corrects us when we are doing something wrong and keeps her eyes on all of us. The hour passes by super fast; it’s hard, but I love it. I’ve done a few classes with Chloe also amazing. Melissa is very responsive to what we need. Really a great team. Thank you, ladies.”

Modus Pilates is run by Shannon Hopkins. She’s not only a certified Balanced Body instructor but also brings over 10 years of teaching experience.

Since she also had training in a wide range of areas (pre- and post-natal care, back and shoulder injuries, scoliosis, etc.), she’s very knowledgeable to guide you safely.

Most classes here are focused on reformer work. They offer private sessions, small group lessons, and even private group sessions for corporate teams.

They keep their class small too. Customers often mention that instructors always keep an eye on everyone and offer gentle corrections when needed. They’re very accommodating to any discomfort or injuries.

We also appreciate how the instructors would never touch students without consent, which shows a strong focus on comfort and safety.

It’s worth noting, though, that classes fill up quickly due to their popularity. You might have to book a class in advance.

Pros

  • Lead instructor has over 10 years of experience
  • Additional training in areas
  • Suitable for a wide range of clients
  • Small class sizes
  • Accommodating to injuries and discomfort
  • Very respectful
  • Flexible class sessions

Cons

  • Classes can fill up quickly

All the instructors I’ve had are very caring

“I’ve been to a few studios, and I like Modus best. Since they take only a few students at once, it allows the instructor to keep an eye on you and suggest corrections. All the instructors I’ve had are very caring and know how to accommodate any discomfort or injuries. I also find their classes to be well structured and offer a good progression of movements. Wish I were still living in the neighbourhood to attend more classes.”

Gives simple tweaks to “unlock” new exercises or work around an injury

“Great Pilates reformer studio. Large, bright and clean space. But most importantly, Shannon is super knowledgeable. She is able to give you simple tweaks for you to “unlock” new exercises or work around an injury to get the most out of your workout. Definitely recommend.”

4. Roze Pilates

Address: 759 De la Commune St W

Phone: +1 514-866-7693
Business hours:

  • Monday to Sunday: 7:30 AM – 8 PM

Website

Roze Pilates’ instructors are mostly bilingual. Classes run in both French and English, which is great if you like clear explanations.

We also loved how each teacher brings their own teaching style, so every session feels a bit different but still pushes you to reach your potential.

Their class structure is very specific too. Whether you’re looking to work on overall strength and flexibility through their Rise class or focus on glutes and abs with targeted sessions, their reformer-based classes give clear direction.

We’ve heard that the instructors are very authentic and attentive. They listen carefully, adapt to individual needs, and maintain a balance between proper technique and supportive guidance.

If you’re a pilates addict, their three-month unlimited class package is compelling.

Instead of a set number of sessions, this has unlimited access to both pilates and group barre classes.

The only minor downside we spotted from customer feedback is that a few classes get cancelled now and then due to administrative issues.

Pros

  • Bilingual instructors
  • Variety in teaching styles
  • Focused class structure
  • Attentive and authentic instructors
  • Unlimited package for enthusiasts

Cons

  • Occasional class cancellations

This is by far my favourite pilates studio

“Tried a few pilates studios in Montreal and this is by far my favourite. The instructors are very knowledgeable, a good variety of classes and the barre is challenging but really fun too.”

Stephanie Martin, Google review

Studio Sage has carved out a strong reputation for energetic and dynamic pilates sessions.

Many clients praised their instructors for being approachable yet challenging. They keep the classes lively while making sure each participant is pushed safely and effectively.

It tells us that their teaching style is very personalised and thoughtful. It’s great for anyone looking to improve their pilates practice under attentive guidance.

This studio also shines in versatility. Aside from pilates, they offer yoga, barre, and fitness classes. It makes it a great fit for someone who likes variety in their workouts.

Everything that you need is also here, and they’re very thoughtful about it. There’s a lot of equipment to borrow, like blocks, weights, and even blankets.

Their unlimited plans are also great for those wanting a more immersive experience and a consistent training schedule.

There’s something you should remember, though: the doors get locked once class starts, so no sneaking in late.

Pros

  • Energetic and dynamic classes
  • Effective guidance from instructors
  • Personalised teaching style
  • Wide equipment available
  • Variety of classes
  • Unlimited plans

Cons

  • Strict punctuality policy

The studio felt so welcoming and inclusive

“I had an amazing first experience at Studio Sage a few months ago, and I just realised I never wrote a review! From the moment I walked in, the studio felt so welcoming and inclusive, and the instructors made the class both challenging and fun. I truly felt supported throughout the session…”

Fatima Diene, Google review

I love being here!

“I’ve been visiting the studio for a month now and have had the opportunity to try many of their wonderful classes! I particularly enjoy the power flow and the yin jazz with Lucie. All of your needs are considered, from a variety of fresh teas, water and even hair ties in the bathrooms… lots of equipment available to borrow; mats, straps, bolsters, blocks, balls, weights and the most cosy blankets! The space is smoothly designed, chic, and moody lighting… the perfect ambience – I love being there! It’s the best beginning, middle and end of any day of my week. Looking forward to another month!”
