1. L’Absolu Spa

l-absolu-spa

Website: https://labsolu.com/
Address: 10211 boulevard Saint-Laurent

Hours: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–8:00 PM; Saturday–Sunday, 11:00 AM–6:30 PM

Restoring tight muscles feels effortless when you can pair deep heat with weightless resting. L’Absolu Spa combines a traditional Finnish stone sauna with optional flotation baths and bodywork sessions under one roof.

They also make the visit easy by providing a bathrobe, towel, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. This means you don’t need to pack much beyond clean sandals, if you want them.

Drivers get another practical perk, with reserved client parking beside the building.

Just keep an eye on weekend timing: the Finnish sauna, flotation baths, and relaxation area close at 6:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, even though massage appointments continue later into the evening.

Pros

  • Traditional heated-stone Finnish sauna
  • Cold showers for circuit contrast
  • Supplies robes, towels, and shower products

For weekly very hot sauna use and a real Finnish experience it absolutely did the job
…I’ve been to most other spas in the area and outside of Montreal- strom, Scandinave, Balnea, and though this place doesn’t have a cold plunge, for weekly very hot sauna use and a real Finnish experience it absolutely did the job. The service I received every week made it even more worth it….

You can throw water on the rocks which makes it a true experience
I’m on my 2nd month of Unlimited Sauna so obviously I love this spa. The sauna is very spacious and you can throw water on the rocks which makes it a true experience. Beyond the sauna is also the floating bath which I tried for the first time and it is definitely worth it – it was very calming, better than I imagined….

2. Banya St-Jacques

banya-st-jacques

Website: https://banyamontreal.com/
Address: 6120 rue Saint-Jacques, Unit 121
Contact: 514-481-0006 / [email protected]
Hours: Monday–Sunday, 12:00 PM–12:00 AM

Sharing a steam room with strangers can sometimes make it harder to properly unwind with close friends.

Banya St-Jacques takes a different route by renting out the whole Russian sauna facility for private use rather than selling individual public admissions.

Your group can reserve an eight-hour slot between noon and midnight, giving you plenty of time to settle in without rushing through the experience.

There’s also more here than the steam room: the setup includes a kitchen with a refrigerator and microwave, plus a pool table for downtime between sauna sessions.

We especially like that it feels closer to a private gathering than a typical spa visit. Unlike commercial day spas, this spot feels like an intimate retreat designed for celebrating with close pals.

The catch is group size, since the facility allows a maximum of ten people at a time.

Pros

  • Completely private booking for your group
  • Up to eight hours of private rental time
  • Kitchen includes a fridge and microwave
  • Recreation space with a pool table

Cons

  • Maximum group size capped at ten people

Stylish hats for the steam room
My friends and I visited the banya, and I’d like to leave a positive review.
The first thing I’d like to note is how clean all the rooms are and how pleasant the scent is. There are plenty of towels, robes, and stylish hats for the steam room.
The owners have thought of every detail: stylish and comfortable.
I’m sure those who enjoy high temperatures in the steam room will be pleased.
I highly recommend this place….

Isolated sauna for a group of up to 10 people
I’m here now. All I can say is, “Well done!” Everything is thought out, a very homely atmosphere for people from Russian-speaking countries. When I came to Canada, I was very pleased with the concept of an isolated sauna for a group of up to 10 people. I couldn’t find any competition in terms of price-quality ratio. In short, I recommend it.

3. Scandinave Spa Vieux-Montréal

scandinave-spa-vieux-montr-al

Website: https://www.scandinave.com/vieux-montreal
Address: 71 rue de la Commune Ouest
Contact: 1-844-220-2009 / [email protected]
Hours: Monday–Sunday, 9:00 AM–10:00 PM

Strict time limits can rush your relaxation when you just want to settle into a peaceful state of mind.

Scandinave Spa Vieux-Montréal gives their thermal journey a different rhythm: once you check in, there is no fixed time limit. This lets you repeat the heat, cold, and rest cycle at your own pace before closing.

The circuit includes a dry sauna, eucalyptus-scented steam bath, and cold plunge. There’s also a Nordic shower and relaxation spaces, with silence forming a big part of the experience.

Reserved admission also includes two towels, a robe rental, and a locker.

But remember to book ahead if your timing matters. Walk-ins are welcome, though admission depends on capacity and can involve a waitlist when the spa fills up.

Pros

  • No fixed visit-duration limit after check-in
  • Dry sauna and steam bath
  • Cold plunge and Nordic shower
  • Reserved admission includes towels, robe rental, and locker

Cons

  • Walk-ins can face a waitlist when the spa reaches capacity

Full thermal experience—steam room, sauna, hot and cold tubs
A truly restful experience at Scandinave Spa Old Montreal, set within the beautiful Old Port. It offers a welcome moment to step away from the downtown hum and settle into calm and quiet. The massage was excellent, complemented by ample time to enjoy the full thermal experience—steam room, sauna, hot and cold tubs—all within a serene and thoughtfully designed atmosphere.

I loved the cold shower and hot sauna
Great experience! Staff was helpful. I loved the cold shower and hot sauna. Go before 1130am otherwise there are too many people. I recommend starting at 9am when they open, as its much quieter. Sundays are a good day IMO.

4. Spa William Gray

spa-william-gray

Website: https://spawilliamgray.com/
Address: 421 Saint-Vincent
Contact: 438-387-2008 / [email protected]
Hours: Reserved thermal-circuit arrival times are available between 8:30 AM and 8:00 PM

Finding the right heat level can be tricky when a traditional sauna feels a bit too intense. Spa William Gray gives you two distinct options: a Finnish dry sauna running at the hotter end of the circuit and a milder herbal sauna.

You can cool down afterwards in a dedicated cold room or use the experiential showers, with a steam room and Himalayan salt room adding more variety.

We talked with a front desk attendant about their thermal steps, and cooling off in the speciality cold room felt far more refreshing than a standard shower. A robe and secure locker are included, too.

If you need deeper physical relief, you can pair the circuit with sessions by visiting nearby massage therapists to soothe sore muscles.

The main limitation is time: standard thermal-circuit access lasts three hours, so this isn’t the place for an unlimited all-day sauna session.

Pros

  • Finnish and herbal saunas with different heat levels
  • Dedicated cold room for cooling down
  • Steam room and experiential showers
  • Robe and secure locker included

Cons

  • Thermal-circuit access is limited to three hours

This spa is a hidden gem
This spa is a hidden gem. Spent the whole day here yesterday with my daughter. We started in the thermal suite which is spotless and so relaxing. We went from showers to steam room, sauna, cold room, aromatherapy room and himalayan sait room. Wonderful! Then we had our treatments. Maria took great care with our manicures and express facials explaining each step. Finally Mariam provided the most wonderful 60 minute back, shoulder, neck and head massages…we felt like we were floating afterwards. If you are in Montreal don’t miss this!!

Regular sauna, eucalyptus steam room regular hot room
Very relaxing and nice spa experience. Had the opportunity to spend a few hours here and enjoy the weekend. There was a light therapy shower, 3 relaxation rooms, a regular sauna, eucalyptus steam room regular hot room and a cold room where you could put ice on yourself. Would definitely recommend and visit again! During the summer season they also have an outdoor pool that I’d like to try.

5. Bain Colonial

bain-colonial

Website: https://baincolonial.com/
Address: 3963 Avenue Coloniale
Contact: 514-285-0132
Hours: Monday–Saturday, 12:00 PM–10:00 PM; Sunday, 12:00 PM–8:00 PM

High hourly prices can make regular sauna visits harder to work into a routine. Bain Colonial takes a simpler approach: admission isn’t charged by the hour, so you can settle in without watching a session timer during opening hours.

This place has served the community for generations, so it feels very different from a polished hotel spa. Their men-only bathhouse has a dry sauna, two steam rooms, a whirlpool, and towels provided with locker admission.

For added convenience, they provide a dedicated free parking option nearby rather than having to circle the Plateau looking for a spot.

But it’s worth noting that this place is exclusively for men, so it won’t work for mixed-gender friends or couples planning to sauna together.

Pros

  • No hourly admission billing
  • Dry sauna and two steam rooms
  • Whirlpool available
  • Towels provided with locker admission

Cons

  • Men-only facility

Steam rooms, dry sauna and a jacuzzi altogether
It is a good place, If you expect steam rooms, dry sauna and a jacuzzi altogether. Old but clean I definitely will go again since I think in a lot of other places not being able to be naked in sauna is really stupid lol.
