How We Reviewed

Quality of Materials: We considered the materials and intended uses of the toys, including natural-material options. Material choice alone doesn’t establish that a toy is suitable for every age.
Educational Value: Kids learn through play, so we looked for developmental benefits. We considered shops offering science kits, sensory activities, and imaginative-play materials.
Customer Policies: Return options and ordering rules can make shopping easier or more restrictive. We compared exchange conditions, preorder rules, and customer perks.
In-Store Experience: A great shop should feel welcoming and easy to explore. We considered the available shopping hours, product focus, and opportunities for helpful advice.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 10:30 AM–4:30 PM; Saturday, 12:00 PM–6:00 PM

Action figure fans will completely lose their minds over the massive catalogue at Toy Snowman. This shop caters to serious collectors with a SnowFort order-holding service.

This neat feature lets you consolidate eligible purchases into a later shipment and hold them for up to 180 days.

The selection is just as appealing, with a large range of Marvel figures and classic Transformers. You can even preorder upcoming releases and choose collector-packaging options for certain items.

Order was super well packed

Ordereded Riftbound products from this store and another store same day that’s in the GTA near where I live (Toronto). The other store took 4 days just to prepare and ship the order. Toy Snowman shipped the order same day which I received 2 days later via Canada Post expedited. The order was super well packed including with bubble wrap. Prices were very good and you get free shipping at a reasonable $150 CAD threshold. I 100% recommend this store. NOTE: Full disclosure, being originally from Quebec, I may be a little biased 😉

Packed thoughtfully and carefully

Toy Snowman made my dreams come true by fulfilling my quest to acquire a genuine Neca Aliens Queen. I thought I was going to have to order internationally because this item is very rare and hard to find. Thankfully Toy Snowman came through in expert fashion ! Shipping was fast (and free in my case) and the item was packed thoughtfully and carefully. I am already planning my next order with Toy Snowman.

Captivating in person, warm, thoughtful, and full of charm

Lovely visit. My sister and I were walking by when I immediately recognized the shop from Instagram. I had been following some of her stories for a while, so it was such a pleasure to finally meet the owner in person. What made the experience even more special was how she took the time to go through a few books and share a meaningful story with us. The space feels even more captivating in person, warm, thoughtful, and full of charm. Such a delightful place to reconnect with your younger self.

Genuine passion for play!

This is such a wonderful toy store! We love getting wodden toys for our daughter, so were very happy to find this place. While we knew they carried wood toys from reading other reviews, we were blown away by the selection. There are so many toys, both large and small, so you can definitely find something for your kid. What really made the experience special was the owner taking the time to tell us stories about each of the toys, and why she thought our daughter would enjoy them…

Website: https://mrsurprise.ca/
Address: 1456 St-Mathieu Street
Contact: (438) 502-6868
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM–11:00 PM; Friday–Sunday, 12:00 PM–11:00 PM

Blind box fans can get a fun, interactive shopping experience at Mr Surprise Montreal. Along with collectible toys, the shop offers optional online livestream unboxings and same-session trading.

We spoke with someone who watched one of their streams recently, and they said the host quickly traded an unwanted pull for a much better figure.

You can choose to have your box opened live or keep it sealed for delivery. Another handy perk is the Montreal location’s late hours, staying open until 11 p.m. every night.

Just remember that livestream purchases are final sale unless there’s a manufacturing defect. You can’t request a refund simply because you don’t like the character you pulled or receive a duplicate.

These livestream rules also don’t automatically apply to in-store purchases.

Pros

  • Late evening store hours
  • Online live unboxing and trading options
  • Plush toys and collectable figures
  • Option to keep online orders sealed

Cons

  • Livestream purchases are final sale
  • No refund

Wonderful store

…Ojeux is a wonderful store—spacious, clean, beautifully organized, and packed with a huge selection of European toys. It’s the kind of place where kids can spend hours exploring and parents somehow convince themselves that “just looking” is a realistic plan. 😄

The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. When a huge downpour suddenly hit Montreal, they even kindly let us use the employees’ bathroom rather than sending us back into the rain. That small gesture really stood out and made us appreciate the people behind the store even more.

For us, it was a very successful stop…

Service is impeccable and the prices on Lego are unbeatable

This is where I get all my godson’s Christmas and birthday presents. Normally, I go to the store, but sometimes I use their website for free delivery. In any case, the service is impeccable and the prices on Lego are unbeatable, which is so popular with young (and not-so-young!) people. Photos to come.
