How We Chose
1. Souvenir du Québec
Location: 344 Notre-Dame St. East
Contact: +1 514-564-8399
Operating hours:
- Monday to Friday – 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM
- Saturday to Sunday – 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM
When we stopped by Souvenir du Québec, it was clear why this family-run store has been around since 1969. It’s a treasure trove of all things Montreal and Quebec, with a little something for everyone.
Whether you’re grabbing maple syrup in those beautifully crafted bottles or stocking up on cosy hoodies and keychains, they’ve got it all. We also love their themed items, like the Montreal Canadiens gear and unique Native American souvenirs.
What really stood out to us? The versatility. They cater not only to casual shoppers but also to corporate clients with bulk and custom orders.
This makes them the ideal store for gifts that stand out at events.
If you can’t make it in person, their online shop is super convenient with free shipping on orders over $100 across Canada. They even have a live chat feature if you need quick answers.
Now, we’ve heard a few customers mention being asked to leave a five-star review for a gift, which left us a little uncertain.
Provides exactly what customers are looking for
“A few weeks ago my wife and I dropped in to pick up a few souvenirs during our trip to Montreal. This was by far the best place to grab a variety or trinkets and articles of clothing as keepsakes. Islam was extremely friendly and helpful while we shopped. In fact the welcoming atmosphere she helped create was enough to encourage us to return the next day. We got everything we were looking for including an extra treat of maple syrup cookies. I highly recommend this store for any tourists visiting the city.”

Balances attentive service without being overbearing
“Great shop but the best part is the owner and his team! Total focus of helping you find what you are looking for without being overbearing! Loved getting to chat while waiting for my friends to finish their purchase and hearing about the business and the community. 10/10 for places to get the gifts of Montréal! Prices were very good too!”

2. Le Magasin Général du Vieux-Montréal
Location: 34 Saint-Paul St W
Contact: +1 514-393-1111
Operating hours:
- Monday to Sunday – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
When we popped into Le Magasin Général du Vieux-Montréal, we were drawn to its perfect mix of vintage charm and modern style.
It’s been a local favourite since 2010, offering everything from quirky home décor to funky fashion accessories.
We loved browsing their unique selection of retro handbags and sunglasses that give a nostalgic vibe. Plus, it’s great that they feature locally made items and support Quebec artisans in the process.
While their aesthetic and informative website is impressive, we do wish they offered online shopping for more convenience.
Also, some customers shared their experience with a staff member in the basement who made rude comments, which really left a sour taste.
Maintains a super clean and well-organised shop
“I love coming to this gift shop whenever I need a present for a friend—and I always find something special for myself too! They have a fantastic selection of jewellery, accessories, souvenirs, and home decor. The prices are really reasonable for such great quality. The shop is always super clean and well-organised, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Such a lovely place.”

Whether you’re after stunning jewellery or beautifully crafted ceramics, their thoughtful collections have something for everyone.
We really appreciated their range too. This includes affordable pieces under $50, alongside higher-end artisanal creations, like their $32 eye-catching finger cubes made from high-strength concrete.
Plus, their online shopping is super convenient. They offer free shipping on orders over $150 and a 10% discount for first-time shoppers.
However, keep in mind that they only offer exchanges or store credits within 15 days. This means no refunds, which could be a slight drawback for some.
Provides wonderful and helpful service
“I love it here! I had to do multiple laps just to take in all the beautiful pieces! Everything here was gorgeous, from ceramics to wood bowls, clothing, leather goods, cards, art, ornaments, blown glass and more! The staff was wonderful and helpful (especially Andrei, woodturner extraordinaire) and I was able to find some cute little wood wine corks and an intricate glass stir stick. If you are looking for unique, locally-crafted gifts and goods for friends and family or just as a remembrance of your trip I would suggest highly that you stop in here.”

Perfect for finding unique gifts with a personal touch
“What an amazing find! This store has some very original items, especially if you are looking for some gifts, plus everything is local and quite eco friendly. Prices are higher than the mass produced items, but the original designs and quality make them worth it. The store is serviced by the actual artists so you may run into the person who made your item. I already need to go back to get some more items.

Jannat Souvenirs stood out when we visited for its diverse selection of both classic and unique items. Whether you’re grabbing a Montreal-themed t-shirt or browsing through their sports memorabilia, there’s always something to catch your eye.
We especially liked how they’ve made it easy to find something for any budget. From small trinkets or bigger gifts, there’s plenty to choose from.
The friendly and super helpful staff certainly made our experience even better. Several customers we chatted with couldn’t stop praising the owners for their accommodating service.
That said, it can get a little packed during peak hours seasons. We also hope to see an online shop option, as we live in a digital age, after all.

Goes the extra mile with local recommendations
“This store has a variety of options and the owner Nilu is very sweet and very attentive . She even gave us recommendations where to go (Swartz’s Deli) around Montreal since we visited from NYC . Would recommend this store 10/10.”

5. Souvenirs Mag
Location: 705 Saint-Catherine St W,
Contact: +1 514-982-0968
Operating hours:
- Monday to Tuesday – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Wednesday to Friday – 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Saturday – 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Sunday – 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Souvenirs Mag drew us in with its impressive collection of Canadian-themed goods. Whether you’re after a classic maple syrup bottle or a beautifully designed Amerindian piece, the store seems to have something for everyone.
Wandering through their displays was a lot of fun. They had everything from quirky keepsakes to thoughtful, meaningful gifts that were perfect to take back home.
Some of the shoppers we spoke to couldn’t stop talking about how welcoming and helpful the staff was, which made the whole experience even better.
That being said, there’s room to elevate the offering. A few customers were disappointed to find a few items marked as made in China, and we agree that a stronger focus on locally-made products would be a great addition.
On top of that, adding an online shopping option would definitely be a smart move to make it even more convenient for customers.
Creates a warm and memorable shopping experience
“Very nice experience, I am preparing my trip to visit my family and so I wanted to please them! There is really everything you need, lots of choice and diverse prices. I highly recommend. The lady even gave me 2 key rings to thank me for my purchase! Too touching.”
