How We Reviewed

Instructor Pedigree and Teaching Style: We looked for schools led by seasoned performers and certified teachers who can break down tough techniques without intimidating newcomers.
Class Variety and Skill Progression: We favoured studios that separate absolute beginners from advanced technicians so everyone can keep up at the right pace.
Scheduling and Booking Flexibility: We checked whether studios offer easy drop-in cards alongside traditional semester-long commitments.
Studio Atmosphere and Facilities: We paid close attention to how studios treat recreational students compared to their pre-professional dancers.

Address: Maison de la danse du Québec Ludmilla-Chiriaeff, 4816 Rue Rivard

Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM-9:00 PM; Saturday-Sunday: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

If you want to learn from true masters, École supérieure de ballet du Québec brings 60 years of expertise to the studio.

Artistic director Anik Bissonnette leads a teaching team packed with top international talent. And because they’re affiliated with Les Grands Ballets, young students aged 3 to 17 even get rare chances to perform onstage in The Nutcracker.

Their recreational division also welcomes curious adult beginners and passionate regulars alike.

We chatted with a friend who booked their Ballet, Barre & Bulles corporate event, and she raved about how fun and approachable the instructors made the whole session.

But keep in mind that joining their elite training tracks requires passing a tough audition. Also, their weekend hours end at 5:00 PM.

Pros

  • 60 years of teaching expertise
  • Stage opportunities with Les Grands Ballets
  • Youth programs for ages 3 to 17
  • Unique Ballet, Barre & Bulles group events

Cons

  • Auditions required for high-level programs
  • Shorter weekend operating hours

My favorite ballet school

My favorite ballet school! Excellent teachers, pianists and infrastructure. I really love my ballet classes ❤ now the school also offers online classes and new courses. There are some options to pay per classes or the semester. The best ballet school in Montréal

I really liked this place for my daughter’s ballet classes

I really liked this place for my daughter’s ballet classes. She quickly made friends. She’s a real pianist who plays music during the classes. The classes are of very high quality and professional. Unfortunately, my daughter didn’t “fall in love” with the discipline. But it’s still a school I highly recommend.

2. École de ballet Anjou

Website: https://www.ecoledeballetanjou.com/

Address: 7777 boulevard Louis-H. Lafontaine, Suite 101, Anjou

Contact: (514) 351-2092

Hours: Monday-Friday: 5:00 PM-8:00 PM; Saturday: 8:30 AM-5:00 PM

Families and adults in the east end often look for a neighbourhood studio that doesn’t just stick to one rigid style. The good news: École de ballet Anjou teaches classical ballet alongside jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and upbeat dance fitness classes.

They welcome tiny dancers starting at ages 2 to 3, all the way up to adults over 21.

Classes run between 45 and 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time to work on body placement and head and arm positions at the barre. Once you move to the centre, teachers guide you through classic adagio, allegro, waltz, and variation choreographies.

However, they close on Sundays and follow a seasonal calendar, so they won’t suit dancers wanting year-long training.

Pros

  • Multiple styles including jazz and hip hop
  • Adult ballet and dance fitness options
  • Classes for ages 2 through 21+
  • Thorough barre and centre choreography work

Cons

  • Closed on Sundays
  • Lacks year-long continuous classes

It’s more than a school, it’s a big family! ❤️

I’ve been dancing at the Anjou Ballet School since I was 5 years old! I also had the honor of being an assistant and teacher for 10 years. It’s more than a school, it’s a big family! ❤️

My niece was so cute as a ladybug ballerina

Bravo to all the dancers at the Anjou Ballet School, your end-of-year show was super impressive! My niece was so cute as a ladybug ballerina, but so far my favorite is the Elementary Hip-Hop 2 group, it felt like we were at “So You Think You Can Dance”!!

Adult dancers who hate rigid semester contracts will love that Studio Bizz Mount Royal hosts the largest variety of dance, yoga, and fitness classes in Montreal.

It easily ranks among the best dance studios in Montreal if you like mixing classical barre with K-Pop (Korean pop), Latin dance, Afro dance, or Zumba.

Their beginner and intermediate classes do a great job of locking in your basic skills.

A student who dropped into an intermediate session here last winter told us the instructor gave the super-clear cues that helped her fix her wobbly pirouettes right away.

Meanwhile, advanced and professional dancers also get a serious workout that builds muscle and flexibility.

Just watch out for their strict policies, though: cancellations get only a 50% refund, and bringing food into studio rentals costs $60.

  • Beginner through professional ballet levels
  • Strength and flexibility focus for advanced dancers
  • Fun extra styles like K-Pop and Latin

Cons

  • Cancellations only return a 50% refund

The ballet barre class is also an amazing workout

The ballet barre class is also an amazing workout. If you’re looking for a new dance studio do not hesitate to try Studio Bizz!! This studio has brought me so much happiness and the classes never fail to be the best part of my day! I have tried almost every single one of the classes that they offer and each one has been so much fun! Also the classes are taught in both French and English.

The teachers are professional, passionate and really helpful!

The location can’t be beat, it’s a 1 minute walk (not even) from the Mont-Royal metro station. There’s so many classes to choose from and the booking platform is easy to use. The studio is clean, spacious and well organized. The teachers are professional, passionate and really helpful!

We have been coming to Tutu Deluxe for 3 years now since my daughter was 3 and she loves her class and the teachers! It’s a great studio for young kids learning ballet! A balance of instruction and fun!

We have our daughter in the Ballet Class and she loves it a lot

In my mind Tutu Deluxe is more than your random Ballet school – it almost feels like home away from home. We have our daughter in the Ballet Class and she loves it a lot – we tried others and didn’t get the same vibe.
