Our poll reveals the 5 best dog cafes in Montreal according to locals

When it comes to dog cafes, Montreal locals have strong opinions – so we decided to put them to the test. Our team ran an online poll (thank you Facebook and IG!) to find the crème de la crème of dog-friendly spots in the city, and the response was wild!

Hundreds of votes came in, but only a few places received an overwhelming number of perfect scores. Naturally, we had to see what all the excitement was about, so our team grabbed our pups to personally review each of these gems.

And if you want to give your doggy a fantastic time too, just dive into this list!

1. Bulla Café

Address: 4141 Saint Denis St

Operating hours: Monday – Sunday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Price: $

If you’re looking for a place in Montreal to enjoy a coffee date with your furry friend, Bulla Café is an absolute must-visit. The highlight here is their terrasse, where you can sip your coffee while your furry companion lounges by your side.

While the cafe doesn’t have a menu specifically for dogs, their offerings are generally good for all diners. For drinks, they have a good range, from rich oat milk lattes to bold cold brews. As for food, there are buttery croissants, vegan muffins, and even gluten-free cookies.

Bulla, being an art cafe, is also a fantastic spot to see art pieces and enjoy colourful decor. And while our beloved babies may not see them as well as we do, we’re sure the calm and cozy ambiance is enough to put them at ease.

2. Lili & Olli

Address: 2713 Notre-Dame St W

Contact details: +1 514-932-8961

Operating hours: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

If you’re a dog lover who also appreciates a perfectly brewed cup of coffee, Lili & Oli is a must-visit. Dogs are allowed inside, so you can definitely have a casual hangout or study session with your furry friend here.

Inside, the café has a nice sunlit ambiance with large windows that overlook Notre Dame Street. But if your pup is more on the playful side, they also have a small terrasse at the back where you can enjoy your meal instead.

Speaking of meals, their iced lattes are legendary. Have one with either a grilled cheese sandwich or almond croissant, and you have a full meal. But if you’re bored with coffee lattes, they have oat milk cortados and matcha options, too.

Ruby Café MTL is the ultimate spot for dog lovers. Located in a cozy yet upscale part of Montreal, it is the ideal destination for pet owners who want to dine in while their furbaby chows down its own food.

The cafe offers a variety of healthy and tasty options for both owners and dogs. For the pups, there’s a specially crafted menu featuring treats like meatballs and a pup cake.

The “human menu” is just as good, with dishes like the poche vege ratatouille, which seem to be a favourite among patrons. This being a veggie dish too, might help your doggie from launching straight to your plate!

What’s nice is that there’s also a section for dog treats, chews, and toys, so you can spoil your pet before or after your meal. Plus, with the nearby Lachine Canal, you can take a scenic walk with your pup after enjoying a delicious meal.

Don’t miss out on their super cute doggy-Polaroid wall when you walk in. Take pictures with your pup as you wait for their famous gelato and ice cream – trust us, the place is best known for these desserts, so you can’t miss it!

And if you’re lucky, your pup might even get a complimentary “pupsicle” for every meal you order. There are also pastries that are safe enough for dogs to consume. Just ask the staff, and they’ll give you recommendations!

Address: 1850 Notre-Dame St W

Contact details: +1 438-351-4141

Operating hours: Monday – Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Saturday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

This cozy dog café in Montreal combines two of the best things in life: good coffee and great art. As soon as you step inside, you’ll find a gallery of local artwork on the walls – don’t be shy about taking a photo or two as a remembrance!

If you’re lucky, you’ll be greeted by the café’s resident pup-in-training. However, it’s important to note that if you have your pup with you, the space may not be big enough for an energetic play. On the good side, the staff tends to give out treats, so we’re sure your buddy will be happy.

Here’s a secret: if you go up their spiral staircase, you’ll find a spacious mezzanine. This little nook is perfect for a quiet moment, whether you’re diving into a good book or getting some work done on your laptop (just make sure to go there when the sun is not too harsh).
