1. Midas

Being family-operated, we immediately loved how chill it is to get an oil change at Midas. The team is very welcoming too, so making requests and adjustments feels natural.

We liked that their oil change is quick, with us noticing that services are always under 30 minutes. What’s even better is that the service includes a complimentary inspection, even if you don’t request it.

If you decide to make them your go-to, we’re sure you’ll love their guarantees. For instance, they have a lifetime parts guarantee that covers parts such as brake pads, mufflers, and struts (that is, as long as you own the car). 

In general, the centre is actually competitively priced. We’re just not happy with reports that they don’t always honour their promotions, making clients pay more than they expected.

But for its location and straightforward approach, they meet our standards.

Autocare’s track record alone is enough to draw us in. In terms of trustworthiness, it’s hard to look away from their 50 years of experience, having served over 100,000 clients as of writing.

During our visit, our team members noted that the palace was clean and well-organised. For customers, this means they can comfortably wait around as their vehicle gets an oil change, even if the space is quite limited.

Still, with an espresso machine on site, they’re miles better than most auto shops.

Appointments are not necessary, though they do operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Turnaround is fast, with service times coming out to just under 20 minutes, and that already includes the technician explaining the process. 

However, miscommunication seems to be an issue here, with customers reporting that follow-ups led to overcharging. We recommend requesting a detailed cost breakdown to avoid this.

The quality of service at Auto Speedy is what got our attention. Beyond the standard oil change, they also check chassis components for any issues and make small adjustments where necessary – all in a service that others charge extra for.

Since they’re also open on Saturdays, they’re a flexible choice for any emergency services. Walk-ins are accommodated, and teams don’t take too long before getting to work.

Speaking of work, we can connect the efficiency of their service with the skills of their technicians. Multiple crew members can work on inspections, while others do the oil change. This allows clients to be in and out in under 30 minutes. 

That said, not all experiences are glowing – a few clients reported that they were met with pushy upselling when it came to selecting their oil type. While not a dealbreaker in terms of service quality, it’s worth noting for transparency.

While Garage Decarie doesn’t exactly scream “premium,” the quality of their services is top-notch. We love how hands-on they are and transparent with recommendations if the vehicles need them.

The price of oil change here is a win too, being one of the most affordable options on this list. We also appreciate that they give the clients a heads-up in case there will be additional costs involved.

Conveniently located near Metro Namur and Plamondon, we find it easy to drop off vehicles and explore the area while the work is getting done. However, since the shop is quite popular amongst local drivers, you may wait up to an hour for small jobs.

The garage geos have this rough exterior, which we know might skew your impressions. But when it comes to no-fuss, no-hassle service, they’re pretty unbeatable.

There’s not a lot we can say about Gulf LubExpress other than it’s exactly the kind of centre you’re looking for. It’s open on the weekends, so accessibility is more flexible compared to other shops.

Though lines can get long on Saturday, the actual turnaround is fast, averaging 20 minutes per oil change only. Two technicians work on one vehicle, which ensures no delays are recorded.

And since they use GULF products only, clients can rest assured that the oil and filters used are of high quality. There are various options available too, and we appreciate that their crew actually take the time to explain each product.

The only downside is that we found a bit of inconsistency when it comes to work quality. A client reported that the process was improperly done. However, we did consider other factors, such as the car’s condition, that would have influenced the outcome as well.

“Fast and efficient service (was in and out within 15 minutes), and did not have to leave the car other than to go pay at the counter due to COVID-19. Also reasonably priced ($50 for regular oil and filter change). I’d definitely recommend coming here for an oil change if you’re in the neighborhood or if you’re in a rush. Your mileage may vary as I arrived around 5pm on a Wednesday.”
