Every year – when we can finally escape the grind of adult life – my friends and I go glamping. Over the years, we’ve found hidden gems that we’d rather keep hidden and spots that will make you question why it’s only $20 a night.

But don’t you worry – we’re not here to gatekeep! We’re sharing our list so you can enjoy them too. 

Whether it’s luxurious accommodations or access to outdoor activities, each of these spots offers something unique. So, grab your gear, pack your bags, and hit the road to check out these amazing locations!

If you’re looking for a unique glamping experience near Montreal, Hébergement Les Pieds sur Terre in St-Calixte is the perfect getaway. This retreat offers a variety of accommodations, including its famous see-through bubbles that can accommodate 2 to 4 guests. 

Each option features amenities like hot tubs, kitchens, and outdoor fireplaces. This way, you have everything you need for comfort! 

Plus, with cabins spaced at least 150 feet apart, you can truly disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Not only is this a great spot for nature lovers, but it also welcomes pets. Moreover, you might even see some friendly resident cats roaming around the area while you’re here. 

2. Kayak & Cabana

Kayak & Cabana offers five cozy forest shelters that are fully insulated and heated with wood. So, even if you decide to go glamping in the winter, you’re all set! 

The location in the Laurentians also means you might encounter local wildlife, connecting you more with nature.

One accommodation option is the Shepherd’s Wagon, inspired by traditional Victorian sheep herders’ habitats. This cedar structure is designed for couples, perfect for those who love rustic interiors with large windows that offer stunning views of the surrounding forest.

While you’re here, take advantage of the stunning Rouge River. You and your friends can try out various activities, such as kayaking and paddleboarding.

Just keep in mind that pets and cars are not allowed on site. For any luggage, carts are conveniently available to help transport it to your unit.

3. Cabin Sutton

If you’re after a luxury glamping experience, Cabin Sutton might just be your best bet. 

The chalets here feature Scandinavian-inspired interiors with large windows that invite natural light in. And, of course, you’ll have the gorgeous views of Mont Sutton.

Each chalet spans 550 square feet and is best for two adults. But there’s an additional sleeping space in the living room that can accommodate up to two kids on compact sofa beds.

Apart from the spacious accommodations, there’s also an outdoor spa that allows you to unwind among the trees. Additionally, the chalets are equipped with a fully stocked kitchen and an outdoor BBQ, so cooking camp-like is totally possible. 

For those seeking a bit of adventure, Cabin Sutton’s location is a dream. It’s within walking distance of Sutton en Estrie Natural Environment Park and just minutes from the Sutton Ski Resort and nearby snowshoeing trails. 

4. DOME: La Tanière

DOME: La Tanière offers a secluded glamping experience just over an hour from Montreal. This unique option accommodates up to four guests with a queen bed and cozy bunk beds, making it perfect for couples or small families.

Inside, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with a sink, stove, and essentials for cooking simple meals. You also get drinking water provided in large 18L bottles.

Step outside, and you’re greeted by a deck with a hammock, a dining area, a barbecue, and a fire pit – imagine dining under the stars here! For those chilly evenings, indoor firewood is provided, though guests will need to bring extra firewood if to do an outdoor campfire.

By the way, the dome doesn’t have an indoor bathroom, but there’s a private outdoor eco-friendly toilet right beside it. A full bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet is available in the main building, which is about 5 minutes away.

5. Chimo Refuges’ Stella Tree House

Perched eight feet up in the branches of a cedar tree, Chimo Refuges’ Stella is an A-frame tree house in Saint-Sauveur that offers the ultimate glamping experience. With room for up to four guests, it’s the perfect spot for families or a small group of friends.

The tree house is equipped with comfortable sleeping areas, though guests should bring their own sleeping bags as linens aren’t provided. For an outdoor picnic, you can bring a cooler along to enjoy the surrounding forest views, although there is a refrigerator at the main building. 

If you want to take your experience to the next level, consider getting spa access for $30 per person per night. Even without this, the stay still feels premium as the venue has a fully-equipped kitchen and even Wi-Fi upon request. 

6. The Rustic from Les Chalets du Jolimont

Set on a beautiful, private lake in Sainte-Béatrix, this cabin is a perfect glamping experience for those who love spacious zones. Surrounded by 45 acres of lush forest, this cabin offers two cozy bedrooms and can accommodate up to 8 guests – perfect for a mid-size group.

The inside features rustic interior with a wood-burning stove, a dining table, and a fully stocked-kitchen. It even has  an oven and refrigerator, making it easy for guests to enjoy meals together. 

Plus, linens and towels are provided, so no need to pack extras!

Outside, guests have plenty of options to explore. The property offers access to hiking trails, a private lake for swimming in the summer, and a nice ice skating space in the winter. Volleyball and badminton courts are right on-site as well.

7. Straw Castle from Terra Perma

Built from timber frames and strawbale walls, this cozy hut naturally stays warm in winter and cool in summer. Inside, it has all the essentials, like the queen-size hypoallergenic bed, a wood-burning stove, and solar-powered LED lights.

As for the outside area,  guests can relax around the fire pit or cook up a meal in the outdoor kitchen. There’s even a private, clean outhouse as well as a shared solar-heated shower with biodegradable soap. In short, you’re comfortable but you’re still one with nature!

To fully enjoy this off-grid experience, be sure to bring essentials like towels, a flashlight, and mosquito spray. Firewood is available for purchase at $25 a bundle, so you can set up a campfire under the stars.
